Question about
Anyone having luck getting an 8GB memory upgrade to work with a MBP 13" 2011?
I picked up a Crucial upgrade from Amazon and could not get it to work in any configuration. I ended up returning it. Anyone have suggestions on a kit that is working? I have the MBP 8,1 13" Core i5 version that just came out.

I did... I bought an 8th ddr3 ram kit from new egg for 56$. It was Kingston brand ram and it worked perfectly.also when you install 8gb of ram, it also boosts the VRAM up from 384 to 512mb which is awesome... Its crazy how cheap ram is these days , just 2 years ago I bought ddr2 ram for my laptop and a 4gb module cost me well over a hundred bucks...

A potentially common mistake is that there are two different types of DDR3 1333: PC3-10666 & PC3-10600. You'll notice here that the MBP 13" uses 10600:

I installed this 8GB G.Skill kit in my MBP and it works great. Ran Memtest86+ for several passes:

Verify that your Crucial RAM is 10600 and not 10666. If it is 10600, then maybe one of the two sticks is bad and you'll want to warranty / return it anyway. I highly recommend G.Skill memory, if you're interested in switching.

I think I ended up with a bad kit. I ordered the Corsair kit from Amazon and it worked great. No problems or issues a month down the road.
