Anybody else having issues with the hold switch?

My Zune's hold switch just broke for the second time, and it's out of warranty now. Anybody else having problems with their hold switches, and has anybody managed to fix theirs?

I haven't had to repair mine yet, but i was looking at upgrading the HD myself. i didn't see switches on their site, but this is where i would recommend starting... they might be able to point you in the right direction.

My hold switch broke off one time, but i was relieved to find that it just snapped right back on. However I assume that your problem is of a more complex nature than this.

Never had any problems with my hold switch. Hopefully it'll stay that way until early September.

Yeah, the whole hold switch problem screwed my zune. Well, actually, it was endemic of a zune failure. The zune switch jammed, and after that, I couldn't turn back on my zune. It wouldn't even turn on when connected. Luckily, it was still in warranty.

Mine is out of warranty and when sometimes when I try to use my hold switch it just slides back over again. If you are having the same problem then this is what to do.
1. Pop the silver cover off the top of the Zune with a very small precision slotted (flatehead) screwdriver.
2. Bend a very thin paper clip to that you have a 90 degree angle.
3. Put the end of the paper clip in the Zune as close to the back of the zune as you can and towards the hold switch.
4. Once you can't move it any further, move the paper clip towards the front, or the screen side of the Zune.
5. Remove the paper clip, replace the silver plastic cover, and try out your handywork.

I had a Zune for only a short amount of time and the hold switch broke. Fortunately, I was able to get a refund.

Unfortunately yes. It started only recent and I have had my zune for 3 years but it only works sometimes. It's as if it has loosened so that when I slide it over it slides right back. This is the first porblem I have ever had with my Zune and thankfully it's one that I can deal with. Plus, with the Zune HD supposedly coming out in a month I won't have to deal with it much longer.

My hold switch broke a little under a year after buying it. I got it repaired, though.

More to the point, yes, you are correct - the hold switch is incredibly flimsy. My second Zune (replacement) is also experiencing a rocking hold switch; I expect it to snap soon as well. However, the Zune HD replaces the switch with a single button. I suggest you sell yours on craigslist and await the Aich-Dee.

In less than a year, my hold switch was sliding all over the place making it useless, but it's not a big deal to me because I've never really needed to use it.

I'm tempted to do that, but I don't have the cash, and the HD doesn't have the storage I want (a 64GB model would be much better) . I am, however, looking at switching to Verizon and the Touch Pro. How is media playback on Windows Mobile? I know I wouldn't get much storage out of it, but $50 for a 16gb micro sdhc is a good compromise when I'm getting the phone anyway. Any media players would trying?

The hold switch is "broken" on a Zune 30. Obviously, it's not under warranty. Should I try to fix it myself, or what? It's not mine anymore, I gave it to my mom when she bought me the 80. Hopefully, when I get the HD, she'll give me the 30 back (I like the way it looks and feels) and I'll give her the 80.
