Any thoughts on the best external mic for Zi8?

Seems logical that any external mic will sound better thatn the built-in one. But do any users have comments about which one worked bet for them? Presumably *not* wireless, but would like to hear about those too.

I've got a suggestion;

Audio Technica PRO 24-CM; just google the term "PRO 24-CM"

It's quite a great ULTRA PORTABLE stereo condenser mic. It ain't cheap; it'll probably match your camera's tag; but consider this:

Your camera will be obsolete in a year or maybe 2. This mic, and most hi-fi audio equipment won't ever be obsolete (well, at least it hasn't .... ever).

I'm assuming you live in the US, there are quite several hi-fi audio specialty stores, such as BJORN'S, (or if you're looking for something less expensive, visit CONN'S) in which you can find most anything audio-related that you want.

I don't live in the US, though... so, I wouldn't know any other store such as Bjorn's; but I'm an audiophile at heart, and I'll never forget Bjorn's, as it was there where I first tested a McIntosh amp (and fell in love with it ever since).

Good luck man!
