Any issues when upgrading iOS from beta to release?

Both my iPhone and iPad, which were/are running the 4.2 beta, have been running into the same problem since the 4.2 public release came out this week. Basically, iTunes seems to think the iOS version hasn't actually changed (only the build has, technically the version number is the same: "4.2"), and it refuses to re-acquire the restore dmg from Apple.

With the iPad plugged in:
Hit the update button: "This version of the iPad software [version number] is the current version"
Hit the restore button: "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad '[friendly name].' The requested resource was not found." Dialog has a more information and ok button; hit the more information button, you get sent to this link: www.apple.com/support/iphone/updaterestore/?error=... which forwards you to this link: support.apple.com/kb/TS1275

Somehow iTunes snapped out of it on my iPhone after a few tries, but the iPad's been totally conked out. Any ideas?

Happened to me too. Put it in DFU mode and restore. Works fine now.

You could try using Organizer in Xcode to update the firmware. Otherwise, your best bet is to force-restore to the current ipsw.

I thought the betas eventually expired and then iTunes prompted the update to the public release version. At any rate, I'm never patient enough, so I just direct download the IPSW from Apple, then CTRL-update in iTunes rather than waiting for iTunes to pull it down.

Why not just download the ipsw via http (still from apple, just not through itunes), then option-click update, and select it?
