Question about
Any good recommendations on screenshot tools for Ubuntu?
I found the screenshot tool that's installed by default to be a bit cumbersome. For instance, I tried to take a screenshot of my entire desktop and it included the "Take Screenshot" window! Another time I took a screenshot of a selected area and it had pieces of the area selector border. Sigh.
I really like Snipping Tool on Windows Vista/7, so if there's anything that's EXACTLY like that, it would be amazing.

Definitely check out a program known as Shutter. You can find it in the default Ubuntu repositories, but here is the web site for the program: shutter-project.org/

Yep Shutter is by far the best, it's miles ahead of the built in "take screenshot" shortcut. I've been using it daily for months and I've never seen anything close. It has allows options like highlighting a selection, using a timer, tooltip screenshots, plus the usual stuff like taking a shot of the whole desktop. Also integrates nicely with Unity if you're using 11.04.
