I love this mouse. I bought two. One of them, which I regularly use for playing FPS, where I have the left mouse button bound to move forward (that's just my configuration), has started not staying in the drag/down state while I hold the left button down. It doesn't just happen when playing a game, but also during regular, desktop use. Dragging a window will sometimes suddenly lose grab on the window because the left button, despite that I'm holding it down, is seen as released.
Since I hold the button down for long periods time while playing games, it does seem related. Maybe the contacts are dirty? Is it easy to clean? Should I just contact Logitech for (warranty?) support and get a replacement? I have not had it very long, a few months (my review here is dated Sept 9th 2011). I had been using a Revolution MX for years before this without this issue in the same use case.
I've already ruled out RF interference and battery issues, and it only happens with the left mouse button (but admittedly, I don't use the other buttons as heavily).
Question about
Any fix for button hold-down/drag not being registered?
Now, this is surprising. I feel like this I'm that guy who swears by what appears to be an obviously bogus fix, like CD Greening ( www.snopes.com/music/media/marker.htm ) or expensive gold audio cables. The fix outlined on this page, "emptying the capacitors",
forums.logitech.com/t5/Mice-and-Pointing-Devices/E...
seems to have worked to fix my problem. I can no longer reproduce this flakiness in the left mouse button when dragging.
