Any advice for a person going from an iPhone 4 to a Droid X2?

I have decided to switch from my iPhone 4 on AT&T to a Droid X2 on Verizon. The main reason for this switch is to get off AT&T. I already have an iPad2 and don’t use my phone as much as I used to, mostly for taking a picture when I don’t have my camera and using it for texting and phone calls.

So, now that I am making the switch I was hoping you all could give me suggestions, warnings or advice on what to expect and what I should install on this new phone.

I know I can’t use iTunes for the phone but I have read that you can use Double Twist to manage your media in an iTunes style interface. Are there any other suggestions?

4 suggestions:
1) Try to use google for everything because Android is the most native extension of the google universe. gmail, maps, music, etc. etc. etc (I know music requires an invitation, but I just uploaded my 15,000 song collection to the service... it's really fantastic.
The more googly you are the more useful the device will be.

2) Take the time to explore and take full advantage of the home screen widgets. That's Android's greatest strength over iPhone (if you consider more flexibility at the expense of more complexity a strength). And take the time to explore and find the Home app that works best for your needs. They all have their various strengths and weaknesses, but they're all (arguably) better than the home app that the OEM provides for you.

3) Use SWYPE. It takes a minute to get used to but once you are decent at it, it will increase your input speed dramatically. Also the voice recognition on the platform is astounding, and for text messages in (relatively) quiet places that's by far the most effective way to get info in.

4) register with android.stackexchange.com/ It's a great place to ask questions and explore others' thoughts on everything Android

For Amazon's app store (which you have to change to download unknown sources go to settings then to applications and check unknown sources). You can get some pretty awesome paid apps for free (they feature one everyday)
www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b/ref=sa_menu_adr_app4?...

I also use following for apps
Handcent for texting
Seesmic for twitter
Pulse for news
Scanlife for QR and barcodes

Forums I use
androidcentral.com
phandroid.com
droidlife.com

One other thing I can give advise on is turn off things you don't use constantly ie 4g if your not in a 4g area, gps if your not using it all the time, wifi if not using it. That kind of stuff will save battery life.

I would get all my contacts synced to Google Contacts so have them in the cloud, you are moving from one way of doing thing to a complete new system, it may be strange at first. Write down the names of all the apps you cannot do without and see if they have it for Android (https://market.android.com/) If not you can find one that does almost the same thing (I Hope). The best part of Android is widgets play with them and use them on your home screen, I could never go back. Look at alternative Launch programs (Open system now) you may not like Motorola Blur but Launcher Pro is great!! With Android all your core functions are not locked down like Apple so play with it until you find something new that you like. After all that's what Android is all about.

The one thing that made it easier was Launcher Pro, it really helps clean up the UI and gives you some nice widgets. I also found Widget Locker and Juice Defender very useful.
