Alright, I am sort of hitting a mental crisis. I have reached a point where my current MacBook does not work for what I do.

I am using Final Cut, iMovie, and The Sims 3. It is really chugging along. I am working on selling past possessions to save up for a MacBook Pro. However, I realized that if I become less relient on the computer, and delete MANY things from my hard drive, my computer can most likely make until next spring. I highly hope that Apple does not release a magical and revolutionary iPad upgrade, so we don't feel left out! Also within the next year, I'm hoping my DROID will not begin to feel dated. What I'm getting at is, what should I save up for?

I bet you could get a Windows-based laptop for around 60% of the cost of a replacement MacBook (with the same specs). You could always install Mac OS on it.

There won't be an iPad upgrade for close to 12 months (though there will be tablets better than the current iPad for a lower price), and your Droid is definitely going to seem dated soon with all the new phones constantly hitting the market.

Since your computer can do everything your iPad and Droid can do anyway, I'd recommend updating that.

How much RAM do you have on your MacBook? Adding more RAM can do miracles sometimes.

Though some will say that this isn't an issue with OS X, in my experience, after having upgraded the OS on my 2006 iMac twice (Leopard and Snow Leopard), I found that my machine was chugging along as well. I upgraded the RAM from 1 GB to 2.5 Gb, and while that helped, I still found myself staring at the spinning beach ball far too often. On a hunch, I did a clean install of Snow Leopard, and I have to say my machine is very smoothly. If you haven't done a clean install of the OS in a while, I would recommend it.
