Adobe AIR

Has anyone been able to successfully install Adobe AIR on Ubuntu? Running 9.04 and just have not been able to get it to work.

I really don't have much experience with Air, but is there a reason you didn't upgrade to 9.10? Maybe that would help.

yep i've got it working.

1. Download the file to your desktop or wherever: airdownload.adobe.com/air/lin/download/latest/Adob...
2. Open a terminal.
3. Change to the directory with the file you DL'd.
4. Run these two commands:
chmod +x AdobeAIRInstaller.bin
sudo ./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin

here is a good tutorial for getting it running in 64bit ubuntu: www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2009/09/install-air-ubuntu-lin...

I would stay away from 9.10 as well. Had to roll back to 9.04 because of so many ridiculous problems.

I was pretty successful in installing AIR on Ubuntu. I ran the stock install via the command line. I haven't tried the new AIR beta though. You getting any errors thrown at you?

Hi Peter, is it a 32-bit or 64-bit install? Is your processor an AMD processor? There have been reports that Adobe Air runtime segfaults on AMD processors on Linux and still haven't been fixed. I've been experiencing on my Phenom-II processor. Haven't tried Adobe Air 2.0 beta from labs.adobe.com. Will try it later.

Hi Peter,

Adobe AIR 2.0 Beta seems to runs now, whereas 1.5.x does not run at all on my Jaunty and Karmic x86-64 on my Phenom-II machine. However, it seems unstable. Been experiencing garbled display while running Tweetdeck.

You can download Adobe Air 2.0 beta from: labs.adobe.com/downloads/air2.html

Yes, but I'm afraid I won't be much help. I don't remember doing anything special. In fact I think it was part of installing TweetDeck. I was using 9.04 too, on an Atom netbook.
