8001050F signed out of PSN

I just tried to get online and got this error msg. Says...

"An error has occurred. You have been signed out of Playstation®Network."

If it's not just me, could it be some upgrade or something?

Sony posted about the problem on their site: blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/latest-info-on-pla...

Summary: it's a bug in the clock which is capable of causing catastrophic data loss for users.

Sony: "We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data."

You heard 'em! If you're rocking an original PS3 (i.e. not the Slim), DO NOT TURN IT ON until they get things fixed.

Just noticed that the date and time are now wrong on my PS3, and even though I completed Heavy Rain, all of my trophies have disappeared from both my console and on the playstation site.

Sony has acknowledged the problem via Twitter:

"We're aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we're looking into it. Stay tuned for updates."

Sounds like it might actually be larger than just PSN: www.joystiq.com/2010/02/28/psn-is-down-some-titles...

From what Joystiq is reporting, it sounds like it might be a PS3 system-level issue that is contributing (or is at least related) to the outage. Obviously super early to tell right now, but the folks at Sony are going to have a long night ahead of them.

This issue is affecting my PS3 (fat, 60GB). The date was reset to 12/31/1999. In addition to being unable to login to PSN my Netflix disc will not work. My guess is that this is a leap year date calculation bug, and much like the Zune, will resolve itself after 24-hours have passed.

About 3 or 4 hours ago, I also began experiencing this exact issue. Thanks for the post and making PS staff aware of this problem.

Just tried to play FFVIII and it's giving the same error.

Symptoms:

Can't sign in to playstation network
All of the following games give the same error:

Final Fantasy VIII
Bomberman
Fat Princess
Flower
Braid
PixelJunk Shooter
Gran Turismo Prologue

Blue Toad Murder Files starts to load but then just has a black screen

WipeOut HD loads but says it is only Trial Mode

Hope I don't lose all my FFVIII progress....

By the way, I have an old fat 60GB model

yea I have the same problem, also noticed most of my trophies have disappeared but im assuming once were able to sign in that problem should resolve itself. Also MW2 doesnt work at all, saying the thing about the trophy info. but that seems kind of ridiculous given that your supposed to be able to play it offline as well, Ratchet and clank works fine but trophies disappeared after playing it.

Solution is probably going to be to wait 24 hours as it looks like it's a calendar/leap year bug in the system. See the Neogaf link above.

Wow, what a mess. Good thing I didn't power up yesterday; I think I'll wait for an "all clear" signal from Sony before playing again.

My PS3 seems to be working now (120gb fat). I only tried to play 1 game before I read about the bug, and lost all of my trophies for Dragon Age: origins. I just played the game now and if you hit the PS home button while in game, your trophies will be at 0. Once you quit the game and look at the trophies they should sync up. I didn't loose any trophies. Just thought I'd put this out there since the news doesn't appear to have hit Sony's twitter page or these forums.
