I purchase the Pure Digital Flip Ultra because I'm having a son soon. I wish my family had saved all of those Super8 films of me running around and playing when I was a kid, and I've determined that my son will have no dearth of media from which to choose when watching himself grow up. The Flip was a natural choice for me. HD is true here -- I had to purchase a proprietary cable for the HD "mini" connector ($1 on Amazon! werd.), but it was worth it to be able to watch vids from the Flip right on our plasma TV. My only issue, if you can even call it that, is that the feature set is very limited; you can't pause a recording and resume later (as far as I can tell), you can only start and end; you can't view a "mosaic" of available videos, it's a pretty linear device. Yes, that's what it is -- linear. Still it's so darned easy to use, that's a small gripe. And if I want features, etc., I can just use a good digital camera to take some video...
