I’ve been using the Flip UltraHD for a little over a week and I’ve been thoroughly impressed. While this portable camcorder is simple and easy to use, it is also quite powerful. I gotta say that this video camera makes me want to take it everywhere. Why I think you’ll love it too: Simplicity:... Read the full review →

I recently bought the Pure Digital Flip Ultra HD for my wife for christmas last year and gave it to her early (so we could record our christmas). This little camcorder is so easy to use. Literally one big red button starts and stops. So easy my mom was recording things within seconds. Some of the... Read the full review →

I purchase the Pure Digital Flip Ultra because I'm having a son soon. I wish my family had saved all of those Super8 films of me running around and playing when I was a kid, and I've determined that my son will have no dearth of media from which to choose when watching himself grow up. I really dislike the requirement to download the Flip camera software to get the video files off of the camera. Read the full review →

The good: Shoots 720p HD video; high-quality video for its class; easy to use; uses rechargeable AA batteries; FlipShare software compatible with both Mac and Windows machines.
The bad: Somewhat pricey; no memory card slot; no cable included for HD output to HDTVs.
The bottom line: The Flip Video UltraHD may not be the sexiest mini camcorder out there, but it offers a respectable feature set and some of the best video we've seen from this type of cheap, YouTube-friendly camcorder.
The Flip UltraHD (Specs, $178.99) (MSRP $199.99) provides the same easy user experience that is the standard of all Flip camcorders. Its lack of manual controls, menus, or special settings make it a very simple product to use and learn. The Flip UltraHD's improved button design even makes it easier to handle than other Flip models, like the Flip Mino and MinoHD. If what you're looking for is plain, old simplicity—the Flip UltraHD is your pleasure.
In general, I'd call the Flip UltraHD the best all-rounder in the group. True, it's the only one in the pack that doesn't double as a still camera, and it doesn't capture 1080p video or 720p at 60fps, like the Sony and Kodak models. But at basic HD resolution, it turns out decent quality video and sound with a minimum of fuss and a very shallow learning curve. And for my money, that's the best kind of compromise.
