It's far from perfect, of course, but right now, at least, we have a hard time seeing how anyone could make a better budget device.

With its sharp 4.8-inch HD display, support for AT&T's fast LTE data network, 12-megapixel camera -- and $49 on-contract price -- the Pantech Discover is a budget smartphone with features that rival more expensive models. PC Mag likes the Discover and says that, despite a mediocre video camera, it "is truly comparable with much more expensive smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S III." Laptop Mag also likes the Discover, and says its "curvy design, bright HD display and punchy stereo speakers make it a truly unique offering." Of course, smartphone prices keep coming down, so the Discover may not be the best bargain for long. But for now, it is, as PC Mag puts it, a model that "gets you the same features and performance you'll find in smartphones that cost more than twice the price, making it the best budget phone there is."

Read the full review →If you're looking at high value for a good deal, you'd be silly to pass up the Discover. Although it's missing a few superpremium features, like Android 4.1, a quad-core processor, and a full-HD screen, there are very few flaws in the phone's performance, specs, and design.
Read the full review →The Pantech Discover really grabs your attention -- and not just because of its low $49 price. It's curvy design, bright HD display and punchy stereo speakers make it a truly unique offering. The only real drawbacks are this handset's below-average battery life and older Ice Cream Sandwich software.

Read the full review →The Pantech Discover is stylish and affordable without compromising on functionality. If the handset had launched six months ago, it would have been one of best value offerings in the Android smartphone game. Unfortunately, it missed its chance.
Read the full review →There are a few users that the design and niche features will appeal to, but for the wide masses ... I just can't recommend it. The HTC One X, One VX and LG Optimus G can all be had for about the same price and offer better screens, software and overall value.

The Discover is ... a solid handset that appears to perform quite well, and Pantech's recent history has shown us that this likely isn't just a small hiccup.
Read the full preview →From what we’ve seen so far, the Pantech Discover is shaping up to be an exciting budget-friendly smartphone that should please both first-time smartphone users and power users alike.
Read the full preview →This machine’s main point is to bring you a rather powerful presentation at an extremely low price point. Whether or not you want a smartphone now, with a $50 phone you’ll have a bit more difficult time saying no – or that’s AT&T and Pantech’s intent, anyway.
