...the 20mm F1.7 is the first must-have lens for Micro Four Thirds, and one which especially makes sense with the compact-bodied E-P1 and GF1. On these cameras it provides a winning combination of small size, high all-round image quality and excellent low-light capability.

With excellent results for sharpness, resistance to chromatic aberration and essentially no distortion, Panasonic has done well with the 20mm ƒ/1.7, and we've been having fun shooting with it. For a really compact shooting package, the lens is a worthwhile investment.

...lens will be offered with the camera body and makes an attractive kit option for serious photographers. Compact enough to make the GF1 a pocketable option, it also provides a fast f/1.7 maximum aperture that lets photographers shoot with a shallow depth-of-field.

The Panasonic 20 1.7 lens is one of those “must own” lenses if you have a m4/3 camera like the E-P1, E-P2, GF1, GH1, etc. Its light, fairly quick, small, has a fast 1.7 maximum aperture and is sharp as you could ask for. At $399 it is a bargain in my opinion.

We had much fun with the lens out there but we do also feel that it's a bit over-hyped especially considering its rather high price point and the need to correct some of its design problems via auto-correction during post-processing.
