If you're after a solid and dependable Blu-ray player there’s few better than this Panasonic, but if your digital ambitions stretch beyond playing-back the odd DivX file or photo collection we suggest you look elsewhere.

So while 12 months ago a Blu-ray player of this quality, at this price, would have been met with delight mixed with incredulity, these days the Panasonic’s just fractionally off the pace.

If you honestly don’t have the funds to plough into one of Panasonic’s forthcoming higher-end players, or you’re simply not bothered about 3D ... then the Panasonic might be worth investigating by virtue of its wonderful picture quality and excellent new operating system – plus you get DLNA.

For under $100, it’s hard to find fault with the DMP-BD75. Sure it could use more streaming providers, it’s not 3D, and it doesn’t have wireless, but in reality, for a value oriented Blu-ray player it’s excellent.

If you're in the market for a basic Blu-ray player that serves up eye-popping pictures, and you have no need for bells and whistles, then you could do far worse than plump for the DMP-BD75.
