I bought the pre when it came out. Early on, battery life was crap, and don't get me started on the night I pocket dialed 911. But here's the thing: they fixed those issues, and didn't screw anything up in the process. The newest version of the OS, for example, adds video recording - a serious omission at release, but now, there it is.

I also discovered, when I got my Nexus One, how much better the Pre's keyboard is. I can't say enough good things about a physical keyboard!

Finally, the home brew community is great. If palm can stay afloat long enough, and continues to work with the community, they should turn out some amazing phones!
