Detailed review
Back in June 2009 when the Pre was released, it was a decent phone with a brand new operating system, in alpha stages some might say. But the main advantages were the small size and the great OS. The multitasking was THE best feature on any smartphone. The major issue at the time (and for several months after) was the lack of apps. In Sept 2009, there were about 100 official apps, and 200+ homebrew apps for the Pre. It also lacked the ability to play GPU-accelerated games.

Well, come December 2009, Palm wanted to change that. The App catalog was moved from 'Beta' to an official app, and Palm secreatly included openGL ipk files in the 1.3.5 update. That paved the way for GPU-accelrated games like Need for Speed and Sims 3, that were debuted at CES 2010.

Palm also released info that a full, desktop-like Flash player and video recording were coming in the 1.4 update in Feb 2010. After that update, and aside from the # of apps from the competitors, I feel that webOS is THE best mobile OS out there, and the Pre being THE best phone out there. Of course, all phones have their issues, one way or another, and its always up to the consumer to pick a phone that will fit them. Well, if you'd like a phone that will not take up much space in your pocket, want a physical keyboard (albeit small, but very adjustable), and THE best mobile OS, then the Pre is for you.

The 100,000+ apps for iPhone means nothing as Most of those are garbage apps. And the sheer number of apps alone will mean you may miss the ones you want, or spend the time traversing them ALL! Palm even opened up the distribution of apps by allowing developers to post a link to an unapproved app on the web so that developers can get their apps straight to the users and not worry about the approval process.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the multitasking experience is like None Other! It was shown that the extra memory in the Pre Plus allows a user to open 50+ silmultaneous application AT ONCE! NO OTHER PHONE CAN DO THAT!

All I need to say is just try the phone out for yourself. If the small size doesn't bother you, or the small keyboard, then this is the phone you need to get. Took Palm only 7 months to get the phone right next to the 3GS w/ video recording + editting and 3D games. The Pre still beats it with its multitasking and soon Flash support, that is NOT annouced for the iPhone. How about a Slingplayer app, or being able to watch Hulu right in the web browser?? Yes, I think I've proved my point.
