A few months ago Peter presented several scenarios regarding the future of WebOS. Among them was killing the platform, which I strongly believed would happen, though I wasn't expecting it this soon: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/hp-punts-on-webos-di... What are your thoughts on these news?

Is it wrong to feel cheated by HP/Palm?
I'm one of those early adopters of the original Pre on Sprint. I put up with the crappy hardware (all three replacements of them), the slow laggy software, the lack of updates, the lack of apps, the reneging of getting webOS 2.0 and finally the promise that we'll get something special in return for our "loyalty". Well, today Palm (HP) announced that we can qualify for a $50 mail-in-rebate for just the $599 32GB TouchPad (not the $499 16GB version). I know people will say that this is better than...

Any other Palm Pre Plus owners extremely disappointed to be stuck with webOS 1.4 while webOS 2.0 and 3.0 make there way to market in various new devices.
I wonder what kind of "something special" they will offer to us poor folks stuck in the past while all these new versions and devices release.

HP Palm has an enormous problem on their hands right now.
For a long time, they've been promising Pre and Pixi owners that the webOS 2.0 upgrade would be available for their devices "in the coming months." This was the vague message repeated at their developer events, in interviews, and through their social media channels — much to the chagrin of their customers, who were holding out for the update with decreasing patience. http://www.precentral.net/webos-2-0-will-be-releas...

I was having the issue with the power shutting off every time I closed it, but I learned to just close it very gingerly and that seemed to solve the problem.
Now, the other day, I dropped it and in the process got it a little bit wet (it wasn't submerged in water or anything, but a tiny bit of water got behind the back plate). I opened it up and took the battery out and set it out to dry overnight. The next day I was able to get it to turn on, but it wasn't making or receiving calls/texts or connecting to the internet. Then I let it power down and plugged it in to recharge, but it won't take the charge. The battery icon comes up on the...

I just overclocked my Pre Plus this morning to 806 MHz, boy this thing is snappy!
Battery life so far doesn't seem to be going down noticeably faster and I've been using the phone quite a bit more since it's actually "modern" smartphone quick. There isn't any lag any more while scrolling between cards or initial lag when rendering larger webpages like Engadget or New York Times. While obviously overclocking isn't for everyone, it seems relatively stable so far. If you're bothered by lag on your Pre, I really recommend this to anyone...
I have a Pre coming in the mail from eBay tomorrow, and I want to know the best apps. I'm switching from my DROID until June.
Is Tweed the best Twitter app with the best app with the best (and most fitting) interface? Best Google Reader app? Facebook Chat? I'm also a freak about icons, so that helps me. Just tell me your favorite apps! Thanks!

Your move, Palm.
I always viewed the Pre series as the CDMA answer to the iPhone with their slick looking software and smooth, minimal design language, you'd get the Pre if you couldn't get the iPhone, that's what I did at least, it was fairly competitive against the 3GS. Now that the two largest wireless carriers sell the iPhone along with a profusion of Android devices where does Palm fit in? Palm had three problems during the launch of the original Pre, hardware(really not that bad at the...

I have just added my third Verizon Palm Pre Plus, with the new Verizon Data plan, considering the Free Hot spot (5bg per phone), it's a real winner.
We can't get traditional broadband (Cable, DSL,Fiber won't come down the road), so the combination is perfect for us.

Why HP bought Palm
Originally appeared in the gdgt newsletter: http://gdgt.com/newsletter/ The recent news about about HP finally launching their Slate 500 tablet got me thinking about the tablet we're all really waiting for them to introduce -- the PalmPad -- and why HP bought Palm in the first place. To me HP’s decision to buy Palm says a lot about where they think the future of the PC business is going and that after years of screwing around they are finally ready to get serious about mobile. HP knows...

I absolutely loved WedOS, but I couldn't get used to the Pre form factor and the lack of Twitter comparable to what's available on Android and the…
iPhone killed my initial enthusiasm. I'm looking forward to coming back to Palm in the future.

Excited for 1.4.5 to finally hit the pre plus!
Will be interesting to see how many more PDK apps will be released now that the firmware is across all the carriers. Sorry that the Verizon users got the shaft with the aGPS. I guess AT&T got something right for once....

Just a heads up for Pre owners, Angry Birds is now available in the app store - $1.99, totally worth it.
About time we get a game our iphone owning friends keep talking about!

So I fully charged up the Pre Plus's battery, booted from cold, and put it in my bag -- and less than 24 hours later it was completely dead.
I don't think it's a defective battery, as I was using it the day before and didn't see any apparent degradation. Palm's devices have had serious issues with standby power discharge in the past, but I'm really not so sure I understand why this kind of thing is still a problem for them. Any other Pre / Pre Plus battery discharge tales?

Love the Palm Pre Plus. Great phone. I have tried to use Preware, but can't get it to work. Any tips.

So here is the deal: My fiance has had a blackberry curve for the past 2 years and is up for an upgrade. She is staying on Verizon but sick of Blackberry.
I suggested that she get either a Motorola Droid or HTC Incredible. She would love an Iphone (I have one), but who knows if it is actually coming to Verizon anytime soon? From my research the main differences between the Incredible and Droid are the keyboard and camera. I feel that having a physical keyboard would be better for her, but I don't really know anything about HTC products as far as reliability and everyday use. Obviously both of these phones run Android, so software is a push. I...
