I'm one of those early adopters of the original Pre on Sprint. I put up with the crappy hardware (all three replacements of them), the slow laggy software, the lack of updates, the lack of apps, the reneging of getting webOS 2.0 and finally the promise that we'll get something special in return for our "loyalty". Well, today Palm (HP) announced that we can qualify for a $50 mail-in-rebate for just the $599 32GB TouchPad (not the $499 16GB version). I know people will say that this is better than...

HP Palm has an enormous problem on their hands right now.
For a long time, they've been promising Pre and Pixi owners that the webOS 2.0 upgrade would be available for their devices "in the coming months." This was the vague message repeated at their developer events, in interviews, and through their social media channels — much to the chagrin of their customers, who were holding out for the update with decreasing patience. http://www.precentral.net/webos-2-0-will-be-releas...

Will H/Palm make a more high-end version of this? I hope so!
why couldn't they have juiced this baby up a bit more? This is and always will be my DREAM form-factor for a cellphone. It's incredibly thin and has a more-than-usable, full-QWERTY keyboard, and a totally usable touchscreen. I'm a pretty simple dude, I just want a phone that fits me. I'm hoping that with the new funding from HP that Palm will kick out a new phone with a similar form-factor but more juice! *dreams*

Well, looks like HP just added Palm to its Have list.
Sad to see Palm's time as an independent company come to an end, but all in all probably the best chance for webOS to fulfill on its promise as a mobile platform. Very curious to see what HP ends up doing with it, esp. since buying Palm certainly addresses the gaping hole in their mobile strategy.

Made another Palm ad. It's short and hopefully fun to watch.

Media Sync feature re-enabled with MediaMonkey
The news has been the fact that iTunes updates have keep cancelling the hacks the good folks over at Palm keep trying to make so that the Pixi (and presumably the Pre) is able to sync its media through it. The attempt was to have iTunes recognize the smartphone as an iPod, but, at the moment, the best one could do to re-enable the feature was to load an older version of the media player. For those who don't have a Pixi/Pre, when the unit is plugged in to a PC through the USB, a screen pops...

Palm Pixi will be out November 15th
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/26/palm-pixi-on-sa... Well the palm pixi will be out November 15th for $100 after what sounds like $150 in rebates and to be honest that doesn't sound like that good of a deal considering the Pre is $50 more and has better specs then this. What are your opinions.

Palm Pre now $79.99. Is the Pixi going to be free?
Seems like with Pre being $79.99 now that Palm is going to have to be pretty aggresive with the Pixis pricing. I was expecting it to be $49.99, but now it's looking like it may be free? Any chances of it?

Pixi in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs?
Just watched the 3D movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and I'm pretty sure the cell phones depicted in it (not the main character's) were modeled after the Palm Pixi! Am I seeing things?

Palm Pixi Specs Announced On Engadget...
Look pretty stacked although I fail to see how gaming could be accomplished on a 4:3ish screen and no d-pad. Still seems like a lot going on under the hood. Also supposedly supports CDMA, GSM (HSDPA/UPA)... http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/14/palm-pixi-proce...

Time to switch to sprint??
I have been loyal to Verizon customer for years now. However I am very disappointed in their line up of phones year in and year out. My 2 year contract is coming up this fall, and maybe it is time to make the switch. With sprint announcing their $70 unlimited plan, and with the palm pixi it seems like a great deal to me. I pay $60 a month right now for 450 minutes with unlimited texting...no data. The Pixi looks like a great phone as long as they can keep it on the cheap, maybe $50 after mail...

Compare to Palm Pre!
I know that many people were hyped over palm pre, but the palm pixi seems sooo much better. What are you opinions on the changes and is there anything you would have wanted to keep? (I personally liked the fact that the pre flipped.)

Palm Pixi Announcement Timing
I'm suitably impressed by the device (except for the no-wifi part), but what the hell is up with the timing? If I recall, the Pre was released the day before WWDC kicked off in June, so Palm held headlines for one day before being completely swamped by news of the new iPhone in most mainstream outlets. And here we are again; the Pixi is going to be hot news for today, but will be dominated tomorrow by the impending iPod event. I couldn't think of a worse time to make this device...

So what does everyone think?
So what does everyone think? Is Palm splintering their audience with the price drop of the pre to meet the price point of the Pixi? Or is this the webOS device that will bring Palm back to the mainstream? Post your thoughts here
