The Olympus Tough TG-820 is one of the better ruggedised compact digital cameras on the market. Partly because it’s built like Chuck Norris, but also due to the fact that it’s relatively easy to use and delivers pretty good results.

The Olympus TG-820 brings a very welcome update to the electronics in last year's TG-810. The new components do a much better job in low light and, above all, make the camera a whole lot more responsive. All Olympus needs to do now is update that ageing lens.

For anyone planning on snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef or rafting down the Franklin, this camera should top the shopping list. It will take rough handling and excellent photos, under or over water.

There is very little to fault and some unique features, such as TAP control and LED macro, really make the Olympus Tough TG-820 stand out as an ideal camera for those who like to take pictures in extreme conditions.
