The Olympus PEN-EPM2 is a point-and-shoot mirrorless camera which does exactly what a novice will need it to. For more adventurous users, there's a lot of functionality hidden beneath the skin (including the image quality of the OM-D) making the E-PM2 a potentially very attractive second camera.

The PEN E-PM2 is a solid upgrade to its predecessor, the E-PM1, offering a better sensor, faster and more accurate autofocusing, and a good touchscreen display. According to ePhotozine, the E-PM2's image quality is "vastly improved over the previous PEN cameras," and the camera is a good choice for beginners "looking for high quality photos and rapid performance, as well as the more advanced photographer looking for a compact mirrorless camera." PhotographyBlog also likes the E-PM2, and says that, despite its "entry level price," it offers the same image quality as more expensive Olympus compact mirrorless cameras, including the flagship OM-D M5.

Overall, the Olympus E-PM2 looks like another winner... Between the E-PM2 and E-PL5, I find myself only missing the Mode dial, and I really like the classic look of this less-expensive model.
