I had ordered the GF1, but canceled it when I saw the press release for the E-PL1. My previous camera was the Panasonic DMC FZ20, which took really nice snaps but the startup was very slow (over 5 seconds) and the autofocus was sluggish as well. It was also kind of large, and I found it a bit awkward to carry around. I got a small point and shoot Panny, the small size made it easier for me to take more photos, and was ready to snap in 2 seconds. However, for xmas I got a new large LCD picture...

I was going to purchase a panasonic lens as a present for someone who owns this camera, but the salesman let me know that Olympus would be releasing new lenses for this model early in 2010. Anyone know if this is true?
Just received the E-P2. This is my first camera with an interchangeable lens system (I'm not counting the Canon G-series). I bought the E-P2 kit with the 14-42mm lens and EVF. Also order the FL-14 flash kit. The Panasonic 20mm f1.7 pancake lens is back-ordered, but I hope to have that in a month. Any recommendations on must-haves or niceties to go along with this camera? Feedback from E-P1 owners would be helpful, since they are essentially the same body, and there aren't yet many E-P2s...

Supposed to improve AF with specific attention to C-AF. Hopefully applies an algorithm that is quicker in practice (skips scanning through the entire range). I'd be stoked if they offered an upgrade for the body as well as for the released ZD m4/3 lenses. High hopes anyone?
Ok I finally got the FD adapter, It's the "RJ Camera" one, made in china, sold by "jinfinance" on ebay. build quality is excellent. It came in a small box, no instructions. using it however is self-explanitory. the Aperature is always stopped down. this works fine. its like having DOF preview on all the time. the Adapter focuses to infinity with the 3 lenses I have, 28mm, 50mm, and 135mm. Focusing is made easier with the 7X and 10X preview. It would be nice if it could be...

Owners, what have you found to be the best way to get good shots out of this camera? I do just point and shoot and I get decent shots, but nothing "amazing." Occasional the light will hit things just right that it looks like it was taken by a SLR, but not often.
I'll always be fond of this cam thanks to the memories it gave. The one year our entire family came together for Christmas and had the most fun we've ever had together, I had this camera in my hands. Everyone was amazed as it spit out instant polaroids of great moments that had just happened. They all left with some prints and I went through several packs of 500 film. It wasn't a bad digicam either, now that I'm looking at those pictures from 2000 in iPhoto. Anyone else have a...
I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this lens. It seems like an alternative to the 17/2.8 but much faster.. it also shares the same compact design. I WANT!
People who may be interested in purchasing this camera should know it also supports microSD memory card with a special adapter. This adapter is supposed to come with the camera, however, when I purchased mine it was missing and I had to get on on Ebay for a couple bucks. When using the microSD card there are some features that are not available, like the in camera panoramic multi-shot assembly mode. (Assuming my memory is serving me well.)
If you haven't seen this thing in real life you owe it to yourself. It is the most gorgeous MP3 player I have ever owned, and maybe even the best looking gadget I have owned. The face of the unit appears almost totally black when off, and the controls come to life in bright red. Reminds me of the MP3 player incarnation of the Virtual Boy. Granted the features aren't all that great (5GB? lame) but the touch screen light up controls are amazingly slick. The glass screen does get scratched...
I am thinking this is a real pretty camera, if it was cheaper I might consider it as a replacement for my point and shoot. However in saying that I think the camera is designed for men that read GQ magazine. I think it screams to be carried in some kind of man bag. thoughts?
My main problem with this camera is the lack of a built in flash. I know that the $200 flash available for this camera is probably much better than a built in flash could ever be but that jumps the price up to $1000 and I'm not sure that price is justifiable.
I'm currently considering buying the Olympus E-PL1 but not sure I'm quite ready to pull the trigger on it. I need to buy a camera before October but need the following: decent low-light photos, light enough where I won't lose an arm walking around a convention floor all day, manual controls, under $600.
I'm currently using firmware V1.0 on this lens and V1.1 on my body. I noticed the website says there is firmware V1.1 available but on the Olympus camera updater software, it says there is no updated firmware. Have you guys noticed this?
I like how they've created the iAuto mode for beginners, but did they take away the actual settings? I want my family to be able to use the easy way, but can I still get into the ISO and aperture settings?
I noticed the other day that when in "underwater mode", the Olympus Tough 8000 allows you to zoom while shooting video by default, and it's full optical zoom, whereas in "non-Underwater mode" it will only allow you to perform a digital zoom if you've set it up that way already. Now, what gets me, is if the device can physically do the optical zoom in one mode, why can't it do it in the other? It just doesn't make sense, and seems like something that should be...
