All said and done, I’m still looking for the perfect 4G LTE hotspot. The features that will win it for me are pretty basic - 5 GHz WLAN, device-as-modem, and some better web config pages that allow one to adjust WLAN power and better keep track of bandwidth.

Comparing the MiFi 4510L on Verizon's LTE network to other hotspots is like bringing a Harley to a bicycle race. It offers screaming-fast performance, and although AT&T offers 4G LTE speeds too, it's only in a handful of locations right now.

The 4510L isn’t very different from the SCH-LC11, and at this point it makes more sense to go for whichever is more affordable. That isn’t to say that the 4510L isn’t a good product, it just isn’t anything different from the already great SCH-LC11.

The Novatel 4510L 4G MiFi for Verizon is the clear winner over the Samsung 4G HotSpot, though the Sprint Overdrive Pro is currently at $49 and the Novatel 4082 is at $79, so keep that in mind. Verizon’s 4G data plans start at $50 per month for 5GB of data and $80 per month for 10GB of data.

Overall, if you are looking for a 4G mobile hotspot right now, this is the one to get. The Samsung SCH-LC11 has some advantages over it, but the consensus is that the MiFi is the way to go thanks to better features (like the electronic paper display).

I do wish that the MiFi 4510L was smaller, like the original 3G MiFi, but the 4510L's added features and 4G functionality more than make up for the extra bulk...for data speeds that easily rival home internet connections, it's worth considering.

I've been fairly pleased with the 4510L - it's a simple device physically and connects fairly consistently wherever I've tried it (on Verizon's 4G LTE network). It's a little weightier than my last MiFi, but not significantly so. I've had a couple of problems connecting to it via Wi-Fi, and I...
