I originally started using on my IPOD Touch then eventually went over to the IPAD way before Verizon started offering . I like it a lot . I wish wasn't locked into a contract I would get the Virgin MIFI. My question is that over the months I have picked a 2nd MIFI thats just gathering dust on my shelf. Is is there a hack or a root or jailbreak that can be done so I can have 2 MIFI's on the same data plan? ..

Currently traveling through central California via train:
On me, I have a Virgin Mobile Novatel Mifi 2200 (which piggy backs on Sprint's network) and my jailbroken iPhone 4 (obviously using AT&T's somewhat notorious service). I've been working via my laptop all morning and afternoon, and some things I've noticed: 1. Outside of the Bay Area, AT&T coverage is as good, if not better than Sprint. 2. Outside of the Bay Area, AT&T speeds are DAMN fast. I've stopped using the MiFi for my internet access because I was...

I picked up the Virgin Mobile MiFi 2200 over the weekend. I was not about to get locked into any sort of a contract with VZW.
So far, the device has worked exceptionally well. Coverage in my area's been really good. I've found that these are pretty difficult to find in stores and online. I ended up finding mine at a Walmart in a more rural area. At $149.99 they aren't cheap, but it's mine - and being able to pay when I feel like using it more than awesome. My plan is to most likely switch to Unlimited ($40/mo) and downgrade the data plan on my iPhone to $15/mo. This ends up being only $10 more...

Apple selling the iPad through Verizon (bundled with a MiFi 2200) marks the first time Apple has partnered with a US carrier other than AT&T on a product…
launch, which is pretty awesome. But I'm puzzled why Apple didn't make a proper EV-DO version of the iPad (instead of bundling it with a mobile hotspot device). This seems very un-Apple. But I'm guessing it's got more to do with the business arrangements in place. So far I haven't seen anyone take notice to the fact that the iPad's Verizon launch is almost exactly six months to the day from its initial 3G launch on AT&T (April 30 - October 28th), meaning early on...

Virgin Mobile just announced their own Mifi without a contract, pay as you go: $40/month unlimited bandwidth - only pay for the months during which you use the…
device. That's half of my $80 contract on Verizon I have kept going to avoid the 5Gb cap. Here is the link: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/mobile-broadband/mi...

I'm considering picking one of these up for a road trip.
Virgin's MiFi is much cheaper but Verizon's has better coverage at the destination in the boonies. I'm going prepaid eather way.

Sprint Version has GPS
Not sure why these are showing as the "Same" item because the Sprint version is different. The Sprint version actually has GPS built in to the device.

Bigger Battery?
Not that I'm complaining... Sure, the device is thing and portable, but I wouldn't mind slamming an extended life battery in the there and getting 8 to 9 hours runtime. So does any know where I could buy one?

Enable WiFi while MiFi is tethered to computer via USB cable.
I haven't tried this, but it seems like an interesting tip for someone who has the MiFi tethered to their computer via USB (i.e., recharging the batteries). Apparently, when you connect the MiFi to your computer with a USB cable, it shuts off the WiFi connection. I stumbled across something today that says this can be fixed. Has anyone else tried this? Seems like a handy tip. ----- You can tether and use WiFi at the same time by changing a setting in the config and updating your MiFi....

This thing is so sweet!
I want to see how others feel about this. I've been on a pseudo-holiday the past week and a half to Canada (road tripping the whole way from San Francisco and back) and courtesy of the gdgt offices, I've been using a Verizon MiFi to keep in touch while on the road. I've been genuinely impressed! While traveling the interstate highways, it's almost always had a solid, fast, and reliable connection. I didn't use it for the week I was in Canada (would it even work? Not to...
