Do any mobile providers offer these? Ideally looking for something where I can pay $20/$30 for data that I can use at my leisure without having to worry about paying a monthly fee on it.

I know Verizon offers plans for month/week/day but $15 for 100MB for one day is kind of nuts to me. $15 for 250-300MB to use in a month is something I'd be more willing to deal with.

I was considering picking up a mobile hotspot off contract for month-to-month use when needed. I can also use tethering from my phone if I choose too but I know that can drain the battery. How easy is it to deal with month-to-month plans on the mobile hotspots? If it's a headache to renew/cancel is there a better option like a pre-paid hotspot?
