I am a developer but have never done any development on Linux, but I think I am going to have fun with this phone / computer. Only concern I have is that will any messing-around with the software or the OS affect the radiation levels (SAR) when using the phone for voice calls? I dont know much about this, so pardon me if I am asking something, well, stupid. Thanks!
I got excited when I read about Nokia pushing an official firmware update to the N900 that will allow dual-boot between Maemo and MeeGo. Is the N8's chipset compatible with MeeGo? I'm in the market to buy a new phone (my iPhone 3G is being a real dog) and hardware-wise, the N8 is what I crave, but OS-wise, I'm thinking Symbian^3 would eventually piss me off. I'm thinking it will take all of my willpower to hold off until the fabled N9 arrives running MeeGo.
One of the issues I have with the N900 is the unlock screen. 5 digits increases the chance of error, especially when the lock screen isn't the most responsive out there in terms of touch. Is there a way to get it to 4 digits, or some other unlock method?
try as I might, I can't get M4E to work - it keeps telling me not recommended to use with PC Suite mode, but I can't find a way to "turn off" PC Suite. Any thoughts?
I need a calendar that works on either the G1 or Nokia N900 that has the same options as the Blackberry or Microsoft Outlook. I need the option to have an event that happens on Monday, Friday or Tuesday, Friday. I can't believe that Google calendars doesn't allow this or am I missing something? I had the random reboot issue (fixed via pmconfig vi edit to enable_off_mode) but I guess I had too many reboots and I started losing my preferences (home screen came up as default other app wackiness). Anyhoo, long story short I reflashed and did the fix immediately. However, I noticed I couldn't install most apps like the Facebook widget or Pidgin. Soooo poking around in the logs I found it couldn't write files to /opt/ which on the N900 is a symlink to /home/opt/. Turns out the folder...

I had OTB problems finding my coords. Changing my location server to supl.google.com from supl.nokia.com fixes that. Look for it in Settings under Location.
Ok, anyone successfully used Mail for Exchange on the N900 to sync with their Gmail and Google contacts using ActiveSync? I've tried several permutations of server settings, but nothing has been successful so far.
