As a second, dedicated browsing device or a geeky weekend hobby, though...the N900 is a very compelling device indeed, as long as you remember one simple rule: it's a computer with a phone, not a phone that can compute.

While it has yet to reach its full potential, the Nokia N900 is a powerful mobile device with excellent browsing capabilities and vast customization options. However, its unintuitive interface and other limitations make this a smartphone for tech enthusiasts and early adopters only.

Nokia's latest flagship device packs in plenty of power and a first-rate browser, but its design and app selection leave something to be desired.

A perfect gift for the Linux lover in your life, the Nokia N900 is powerful and utterly hacker-friendly. But more casual users should pass it by.

As a polished consumer phone it’s wide of the mark, but approach it carefully with your geek hat on and you’ll be in seventh heaven.

This is a great phone/mobile computer if you're into this kind of thing. If you wanted a Nokia Internet Tablet but were put off because of their size and the fact you need a mobile as well, this is the answer you've been looking for.

The Nokia N900 is much better than the N97 is, I can vouch for that. However, I think that its form factor alone will be a deterrent for many potential users.

The N900 is quite a device to be sure, it combines a lot of the technology as seen in Nokia's top of the line phones, but it's not one among them. The software inside Maemo5 makes the device really shine. Maemo is a Linux operating system, derived from Debian, just like Ubuntu, but is...

As a Skype user, I always wondered why the service wasn't integrated into a mobile OS. I'm not talking about an app - especially one that couldn't be on at all time - where is the sense in that? Nokia's N900 integrates Skype into the OS like no other device. But that's...

What a brilliant device, if only they were able to continue development to realise the potential. It was the first "smartphone" that actually felt like a usable computer. The problem I found was the responsiveness, but when you appreciate what was going on behind the scenes it was worth it. By...

Nokia calls the N900 a Multimedia computer, I'd call it a MID with good cell equipment. The difference underscores what Nokia was aiming for and what they have achieved. Armed with a kickstand, superb stereo speakers (or your better headphone from the 3.5mm jack) and a fine screen, the...
