Conclusion: We're mixed

Nokia's entry-level Windows smartphone (free with a two-year T-Mobile contract) has a reasonably sharp 3.7-inch screen, is able to run apps like Netflix and games like Angry Birds without stuttering, and supports T-Mobile's 4G network. However, it has relatively little internal storage (8GB), no front-facing camera for video chats, and its 4G support is limited to the slower version of T-Mobile's HSPA+ network. Other free phones available from T-Mobile include the Android-powered HTC Sensation, which has a better camera and larger screen. If you're a fan of Windows Phone 7, and want a free-with-contract phone, you may also want to consider the Samsung Focus Flash on AT&T, which has similar features, as well as a better display and a front camera.

Nokia's first stateside Windows Phone Mango handset is an all around solid performer and for the budget price, it's a must-have.

For $50 after subsidy, you get a device that comes with the same SoC as the other higher-end WP7 devices, a 5 MP camera that produces great photos, and whose only caveat is 8 GB of NAND.

The $49.99 Nokia Lumia 710 is an excellent way to get the growing capabilities of a Windows Mango smartphone for a rock-bottom price. Though it isn't an Android superphone with a luscious AMOLED display, it's a practical device that covers all the mobile bases.

The Lumia 710 is budget-friendly, but it doesn't sacrifice build quality in any way... We think that this phone's attractive price tag will help compel mainstream buyers into Windows Phone 7, despite the fact that it's bolstered by fewer apps.

The Lumia 710 is a fine midrange smartphone, but it won't win any new converts over from Android or iOS.

The Nokia Lumia 710 might not be the most powerful phone, but its reliable performance, array of business and entertainment features and crisp display makes it a top choice for first time smartphone owners and those on a tight budget.

Nokia has played it safe here with a collection of hardware bits that not only fit the Microsoft set of parameters set out for devices running their mobile OS, but fit right inside what we’ve seen in the past for Nokia’s own line as well.

Nokia doesn't cut too many corners in delivering the Lumia 710 on a budget, and the result is a full-featured phone for a fraction of what its competitors are charging.

The Lumia 710 is a very nice entry level or transition Windows Phone. I can see it being very appealing to those just starting out with Windows Phones and are looking for a basic device. It won't be appealing to everyone but for those who take a chance on the Nokia they shouldn't be disappointed.

Although we would buy the Nokia Lumia 710 over the HTC Radar, it's overshadowed by the Nokia Lumia 800, which impressed us a lot more and makes the Nokia Lumia 710 feel more like its cheaper relative... you're better off saving up a little more money and buying the Nokia Lumia 800 instead.

This phone is aimed squarely at feature phone users that T-Mobile hopes to turn into smartphone owners. The handset is reliable and easy-to-use, and I highly recommend the Lumia 710 to first-time smartphone buyers.

For the price you can get this phone at, it's a no brainer. It's fast, with a 1.4Ghz Snapdragon processor and runs the intuitive, while young, Windows Phone 7 well. The screen is dense, but other than that quite poor, and the camera is average, yet it functions how it's supposed to, and really...

Very nice phone with cheap price. I bought from Tmobile store with unlocked for 250. The design factor is very well and the weight is not heavy. For OS, I like the people the best. I added my google, windows live, and facebook account. All my friends are in my people hub now. Also the photos in my...

I had 2 previous Android phones, a MyTouch 4G and a G2. The MyTouch was horrible, the G2 was passable. I traded the G2 in to get the Lumia 710 and I have not regretted it since. Only downside of this is does not have super awesome camera, but it passes. Best phone I have ever had.

What is it? The Nokia Lumia 710 was the first Windows Phone I ever actually had a chance to spend any significant amount of time with, so I was pretty excited when the package arrived on my doorstep. This phone was Nokia’s first Windows Phone in the US, that alone was exciting. Our Thoughts In...

Maybe I'm a little biased, but the price (and the savings) make me look past some of the phone's short comings. Sure it doesn't have a front-facing camera but I've honestly been hard pressed to find a real need for one (I've Facetimed all of 4 times in the last year, Skype video chat even fewer...
