In December Nintendo released the Wii mini, a pared-down version of the Wii. It retails for $99 CDN, just below that $100 threshold that turns it from a purchase you might have to think about into an impulse (just as $0.99 is a sweet spot for song and game downloads). Unfortunately, to get that price point, they eliminated a lot of features. GameCube backwards compatibility was removed, but it had been missing since the 2011 redesign, which also took out the controller ports. Only composite...

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Finally a reason to hook up the Wii
Will anyone else be pulling their Wii out of retirement for this game? Mine has been sitting in it's Zelda carrying bag since last Christmas when my mom made me plug it in for the little ones.

Xbox 360 hits 55 million units
Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 has hit 55 million units sold, and that its sales are accelerating not only disproportionately to its competition, but to any console ever at this period in its lifecycle. The Xbox team released a super interesting normalized sales graph that tracks sales progress from launch through year nine of the last few console generations: http://static.flickr.com/5062/5793291459_447e283c3... The interesting trends I'm seeing here: the Wii, as we know, has flamed...

Has anyone ever noticed how the design of the Wii sort of resembles that of the NES?
It's this really subtle thing that people tend to overlook, but I think it's a neat little throwback. There's no way it was unintentional.

so now that netflix is getting rid of the add to dvd option while using a streaming device i can only think of the negatives.
does anybody have any positives to them going away with this option? http://blog.netflix.com/2011/01/removing-add-to-dv...

Netflix has revitalized my Wii.
When I first got my Wii, I played it all the time, and I loved it. But as soon as I got an Xbox, the poor Wii was left unused. I moved it from my living room into the bedroom, where it sat for months never even being turned on. It took my wife 2 or 3 months to notice that I hadn't even plugged the Wii into anything. Now that we have the Netflix disc, the Wii has gone from not being used to being a way to watch Netflix from the bedroom! So now my Wii has a purpose again. Of course the much...

Dislike?
I would say I "Like" the Wii... I dislike the lack of new games and the lack of great 3rd party games, at least compared to the PS360... For those of you that "Dislike"'d the Wii recently, why do you dislike it?

Why Netflix will go unused on my Wii....
So I just read the Engadget article about the Wii Netflix discs shipping... normally I would be pretty happy but now I know this will go unused in my home. Let me tell you why. I keep getting this message from Netflix: "YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR LIMIT OF 6 DEVICES". When I go to my account and click "Manage Netflix ready devices and computers", it shows a list of 6 devices registered - the list goes: Xbox 360, PS3 System, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox 360, Roku. Now I know this isn't a...

Wii Fit under fitness devices?
I was considering adding the Wii Fit under fitness devices, but decided maybe I should ask first. Is there going to be a gaming accessory category?

Netflix officially on Wii
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/netflix-streamin... So now the Wii much like PS3 will also have netflix using the DVD streamdisc. No HD but should be DVD quality and with broadband should be just fine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am getting a Roku pretty soon anyway but I like that now all 3 systems have it. It will probably be the least used hardware to distribute netflix media but hey...

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Dust off the Wii!!
I know everyone is hooked on Call of Duty and Borderlands right now, but this new Mario game is really fun too!! I played it with my girlfriend last night, then with my gf and a roommate, and finally with my gf and 2 roommates for 4-person co-op mayhem!! (something neither CoD, Borderlands, or Halo can offer on one console btw) As my roommate pointed out, this may be the only game that adding more people makes it way harder to finish a level rather than it normally would be. Thats because there...

NeoGamma r7 with physical DVD's
All I can do is get this to work with games on an external USB drive. I have been unable to get a burned game to successfully work. Does anybody know a game and the proper settings in neogamma I need to get this to worki. Note, I have a mac so I can burn with Disc utility at 2x or I can burn via Windows by VM Fusion.

Wonder when they'll release a single unit enhanced controller...
(I wish they had released it before I bought four controllers.) I'm talking about a controller that builds the Motion Plus device into the Wiimote. They should have released the Motion Plus and an enhanced remote at nearly the same time, maybe having the MP come out second. I just got my Wii in August (wish I had waited a month). I bought three extra controllers at $40 each, and now I have to buy 4 MPs at $20 each. (The second controller was bundled with a nunchuck and wheel; the third came...

Wii HD
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/21/square-enix-pre... Well my thoughts on when it would come out was a little off but i was not the only that thought the Wii would beat everyone else to its next iteration. Apparently the big wigs are predicting the Wii HD will be out by 2011 and that the PS3 and 360 motion controls will not have any effect in the market, i don't know about that, natal looks freaking awesome but so does a HD wii.

Wii might drop to $200
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/14/wii-getting-50-... Well this would make 3 of 3 for a price drop but it looks like the Wii might drop to the modest price point $200. I wonder if this will spark Microsoft to rethink the arcade version. What do you think will we see another price drop from Microsoft because of this.

Has anyone bought this yet? It's by the same people who did Odins Sphere. I am waiting for mine in the mail. Game looks amazing.
