Is the D90 still worth the money?
details
I'm looking to get a DSLR or mirrorless camera in the near future. I know what I want out of this mystery camera:
  • good to great IQ
  • good to great low-light (up to ISO 1600 or more)
  • good to great video (720p minimum)
  • good to great burst shooting (3-5 fps)
I know that the D90 is three years old, and that there are more modern entry level models from Canon and company. The fact that the D90 has two dials, an ISO button and fast burst speeds are very tempting. This is camera is a complement to my S90, so... Read more →

I am looking to get a DSLR for the wife for Christmas and not being much of a camera buff would like some help on it.
details
Looking in the $700-900 range and something entry-level and user-friendly. I really like the D90, but would like some outside input before I pull the trigger and get one. Anything else in that field that would be a good alternative or even better?

Battery Charging > 50%
details
Anyone having an issue with their not being able to fully charge battery? Battery Meter/Menu in camera shows battery's health as new. I did not see the incremental loss being able to charge, one day it charged 50%, and never recovered. Makes me thing that charger maybe faulty, and not the battery?

Shutter count
details
Is there any way to get the shutter count/actuation information from the camera? I know of a way but that would involve exporting the image out and extracting the info from the EXIF data. That just seem like a large amount of work... Any suggestion is great;y appreciated. :-)

Pop-Up Flash
details
Has anyone had an issue where the pop-up flash won't "flash"? I was having an issue even getting the flash to pop-up, but I gently got that fixed. However, one of the inside latches appeared to be disengaged. There was no trauma to the phone, it wasn't dropped or anything like that. I honestly don't really know how this occurred. Anyway, the flash now pop-ups just fine and I am able to close the flash, it just won't "flash". Thanks in advance, Jim
