Replacement for non-VR 55 - 200 Nikkor lens.
My first telephoto lens finally died. Looking for an interesting, inexpensive replacement. Should I go with a VR version of 55 - 200? Try a wider aperture telephoto lens? 300 mm? Any ideas?

Best SLR camera under $700?
I have been looking into getting a SLR camera for some time now. Just curious as to which one would be a decent camera somewhere in the $700 and under range, suitable for an entry level user. My research has me looking at the Nikon D40 as a possible option. Looking for some educated feedback.

D40 with 70-200 f2.8
Hey everyone, I just rented this lens for the week to give it a test drive. I know its kinda overkill to put such a nice lens on a D40 but WOW is it amazing. Pros: - Constant max aperture of 2.8 throughout the focal length - VR - AF-S so it works great with D40 (auto-focusing) - Sharpest pictures I've ever taken Cons: Really Really Heavy

Ken Rockwell - D40 Users Guide
I followed the settings Ken Rockwell gives in his D40 users guide, and I'm pretty much always happy with the results. It's far easier to turn up the brightness than to deal with the loss of detail due to overexposure. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d40/users-guide/i...
