It's a solid enthusiast "compact" that will please a lot of shooters, but the Nikon Coolpix P7700 doesn't quite deliver at midrange ISO sensitivities and its image-processing overhead might annoy impatient photographers.

The Coolpix P7700 is a good advanced compact camera with a longer-than-average zoom lens. Although it can't compete with higher-end compacts like Sony's Cyber-shot RX100, it is, as ePhotoZine puts it, "certainly a good camera, a great camera in fact," which stands out thanks to its very good image quality and 7.1x zoom. Pocket Lint likes its sharp lens, and says it's "the most capable Coolpix we’ve seen to date." While CNET points out that the P7700's burst mode and low-light shooting can be a little sluggish, the site still calls the P7700 a solid camera that "will please a lot of shooters."

Read the full review →With a raft of premium compact cameras now flooding the market in a bid to appeal to those looking for something a little more sophisticated from a compact, Nikon has produced a camera that is very likeable in many respects, with the P7700 having just a few let downs.

Read the full review →We feel that there's still a place for a well-specified, fixed-lens compact for prosumers, and in that regard the new Nikon Coolpix P7700 certainly doesn't disappoint. Highly Recommended.
Read the full review →I bought this camera after really pushing for a replacement for my P5100, which had been used as my carry everywhere camera to supplement my Nikon D90 which was used for events. I was in need of something to give me lots of manual control and a fast lens for the low light shooting I often found...
