...the lens's performance is very impressive. It produces finely detailed images at all apertures (although with somewhat low contrast wide open), focuses quickly and accurately, and handles well in a small, light package.

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/18G fixed-focal-length "prime" lens works well in low light, is able to shoot sharp pictures with a shallow depth of field, and has a built-in autofocus motor, allowing it to work with Nikon's lower-end DSLRs. At under $200, it's a bargain, especially compared to similar lenses in its class. If you have a Nikon DSLR and you're ready to step up from the kit lens bundled with your camera, this should be one of the first lenses on your shopping list.

In short, the new AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G is an amazing lens with fabulous edge-to-edge sharpness, great bokeh, and an outrageously low price. In terms of overall sharpness and aperture range this lens is superior to several lenses that cost more than twice as much!
Read the full review →The 35mm ƒ/1.8G DX fills an obvious hole in Nikon's lineup, and with its very reasonable price point Nikon may have found a way to ride out the recession. In our tests, the lens performs very well, with good results for sharpness at ƒ/1.8, becoming excellent at ƒ/2.8.
Read the full review →Overall, Nikon's 35mm f1.8G is a sharp, fast and compact 'normal' lens that is also highly affordable.
Read the full review →Very nice lens that makes very nice portraits and other shots, even in low light. Bokeh is OK, if not great. Large aperture means it works very well in low light situations and gives a shallow depth of field making photographed items "pop out" from the background. Focusses fast and quiet. Lens...

Read the full review →I love this lens. It's become my main lens, with a good normal focal length on my D60. It just drinks in the light and autofocus is super quick. The images are pretty crisp and I've never been upset with the colors captured. Excellent value and definitely a lens to keep.
Read the full review →I migrated from my 50mm f/1.8 AF-D Nikkor to this lens recently. I'm using a Nikon D90 which has a DX sensor, making the 50mm a little too long for my liking. This lens is a nice little piece of kit. It feels solidly constructed and autofocuses super fast. You can override the autofocus by...
Read the full review →I use us for the past one week, take around 50 Pics, so I am unable to write an in-depth review. But based on my quick feel, I found the lens is a master piece, especially for Portraits indoor. I strongly recommed this.
Read the full review →Amazing performance in low light. Excellent quality output... huge difference from the 18-55mm kit lens.
Read the full review →This is a very good lens but don't use it at 100 ISO. Image is a little soft at this iso, try 200 ISO
Read the full review →Great lens for the price you can't get better than f1.8 at this price point. Very fast, even in low light. Highly recommend this lens for any DX format body.
