I've got a WNDR3700v1, and am using the non-US version of the firmware. I've been running 1.0.7.98, as I found 1.0.16.98 to be too unstable. I've also dabbled with DD-WRT, but it always makes me nervous running software which isn't fully optimised for the hardware. Does anyone else have a favourite firmware versions?
Actually it works sometimes, usually after I reboot the router; and only until I try to check the list a second time. From the looks of the postings on Netgear's forums it doesn't appear I'm the only one who has this problem. Otherwise this is the best router I'm had at home. Anyone have any luck getting this to work?
two weeks, and the thing was malfunctioning, freezing, and just not doing what it was intended to do. This router definitely has a lot of options and great usability. I'm definitely happy returning the Indian support based D-Link router.
I game some but my problem I'm having is I'm getting packet loss(?) while in game. I was told it was my ISP but I hooked up LAN and don't have this problem. For a year on my old network I was able to play with out a problem but I think the modem went bad. I have a newish modem but the problem still persists. I also transfer large file to an off site server. I'm novice when it comes to networks but my knowledge base is to where I can understand some advance content.
The only difficulty I had was with the READYSHARE feature (sharing USB-based storage on the network/workgroup). One computer could see and access it while another could not. Powering down and back up resolved the issue, and in the 3 weeks since there have been no problems. I really like the wireless network for guests, as well. It might be pricey, but it very nice.
wireless devices (I can now have my SE C905 mobile connect to the WiFi to download my favourite content!), excellent streaming functionality. Very very pleased with this router, and the design is stylish and un-obtrusive.
In case you missed it, or have not checked for new firmware in a while, Netgear released an update on 12/16/2009 for the WNDR3700 router. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1286... Many fixes and improvements.
I'm in the market for a new router to step up to 802.11N and this one seems to be getting a lot of attention. Anyone out there using it at the moment? It would be great to hear about a real world situation and learn about the speed of the router and distance it seems to be able to cover. Also, can you share a printer that's plugged into the router with others on the network?
