Netgear has released the R6200 home router which supports the latest WiFi standard 802.11ac. Netgear is claiming that the router is capable of speeds up to 867Mbps (their R6300 is capable of 1.3Gbps). The gotcha of this though is that 802.11ac operates only in 5Ghz and at the current moment the only way to get your laptop to support it is with the A6200 usb adapter, also made by Netgear. With the band operating at 5Ghz this means there will be less interference from other devices. Add in the...

Just purchased this router, I tried to follow the instructions on using time machine with my external drive attached to the router. No luck. Any suggestions?
I have had a NETGEAR WNR1000 for at least 2 years and decided to buy an Apple Airport Express (Refurb) so I could take advantage of Airplay, Airprint and possibly have a better wireless router because Apple products are expected to perform among the best. I set up Airplay and though it was tricky at first, I got Airprint set up (I have an iPhone, but use a PC). However, now it seems that I am having more issues with my internet connection with my laptop. I played with the settings adjusting the...

two weeks, and the thing was malfunctioning, freezing, and just not doing what it was intended to do. This router definitely has a lot of options and great usability. I'm definitely happy returning the Indian support based D-Link router.
It's a freaking tank and has never given me a lick of trouble. (Then again, that's kind of how a dumb switch SHOULD be.) Interestingly, I actually have a previous version of the FS108 that looks almost identical to the FS108P (http://gdgt.com/netgear/fs108p/ ). I guess they recycled the old 1990s version of the chassis for the PoE version that came later. Too bad, because that version had more instructive activity lights. Still, they kept the all-metal body, which can put up with some...
I game some but my problem I'm having is I'm getting packet loss(?) while in game. I was told it was my ISP but I hooked up LAN and don't have this problem. For a year on my old network I was able to play with out a problem but I think the modem went bad. I have a newish modem but the problem still persists. I also transfer large file to an off site server. I'm novice when it comes to networks but my knowledge base is to where I can understand some advance content.
The only difficulty I had was with the READYSHARE feature (sharing USB-based storage on the network/workgroup). One computer could see and access it while another could not. Powering down and back up resolved the issue, and in the 3 weeks since there have been no problems. I really like the wireless network for guests, as well. It might be pricey, but it very nice.
1 with OpenWRT I've been using for nearly five years (with its slowly dying radio), but that's not saying too much. The flashing Close Encounters light is a novelty, but quickly becomes a bit annoying.
However, you need to upgrade the firmware to 1.2.3.7 or later in order to get Port Forwarding to work at all. Spent a frustrating hour or two trying to get it to work before discovering a thread on here.
wireless devices (I can now have my SE C905 mobile connect to the WiFi to download my favourite content!), excellent streaming functionality. Very very pleased with this router, and the design is stylish and un-obtrusive.
There is a new firmware available which apparently fixes the DHCP issues: DG834GT Firmware Version 1.03.23 Modifications and Bug Fixes 1. Fixed a problem where DHCP times out with certain ISPs after 24 hours, requiring a reboot to refresh. 2. Fixed a problem where IP addresses were not reserved properly in some cases. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1332... ion/L2F2LzEvc2lkL2Z1UG1HRVhq Will try and let you know if this resolves the issues. Thanks B

I have an office in my place that gets wireless coverage but it's a very weak signal. It's connected via N but because of the signal the speeds are more in line with G and the reliability is unstable. I was going to look into a repeater but I remembered powerline adapters. I know powerline is dependent on the wiring in the house so I was wondering if anyone knew of a test you could do to check if it's a viable option?
Hello, one month ago I build a garden house that is 100m away from house. Problem is there is no internet connection. I am thinking to put some wifi to ethernet device there so I will be able to connect computer and apple TV via ethernet cord. I was looking some of these devices, but I am scared the range to house (where router is) is too long... On the way there are two trees, but I can get like 1 maybe 2 bars of connection on my macbook in garden house. Is there any device that can receive...

I just ordered a NETGEAR Universal WiFi Range Extender WN2000RPT to go with my Netgear router. I am just curious if anyone has used a range extender and how well it worked for them? Just looking to bring coverage to the other side of my house and the lack of phone jacks in the house limits me to where I can put my modem and router.
Really stressed out looking for one that's a good all-rounder. Looking to spend around 100 pounds. Currently using a old buffalo g54 wireless router and an old Xmodem that is starting to drop connections.
I have a Netgear WNDR3700 Dual Band router and everytime the landline phone rings the internet stops working on the 2.4GHz channel. I know a little but about setting stuff up on the router but don't know how to diagnose my problem. Before I got this router I was on a Westell wireless G router that we had for years. I figured it was about time to update our home network and I chose a dual band because my desktop has a dual band pci card for gaming. The modem I'm using is a Westell DSL and I'm not...

One of my roommates has an Airport Extreme that just refuses to be set up on our network for some reason. After that mess, we took 2 minutes and set up a Linksys WRT120N that works perfectly. The problem is that one roommate needs his Airport Extreme so that he can hook up his external hard drives. Is it a pain to daisy chain the routers or should it be just as easy as plugging his router into the first ethernet port of the Linksys?
I'm looking for a good 5ghz wireless bridge with at least three gigabit LAN ports. Currently, my desktop PC and my Synology DiskStation are connected to my Apple AirPort Extreme via a Netgear 5ghz bridge which has two 100mb ports. This means that Internet traffic goes over the 5ghz link but traffic between the two isn't as fast as it could be if the Netgear bridge supported gigabit. What I want is a 5ghz bridge with at least three gigabit ports (I would like the extra one for my MacBook Pro). I...
I still own the Netgear WNR834B from about 2006, and feel that it's time to get it replaced. It's a draft N router anyways. Ive went ahead and added a wireless-N card to my laptop so that all my devices are 802.11n compatiable (360 S, iPad, and Nexus S already have wireless-N built-in). What, in your opinion and experience, is the best dual-mode wireless-N router out today, preferably one with the best range (since I live in a 2-story house with FiOS modem in the basement). Would also like one...
I'm looking to replace my Linksys Wireless B Ethernet Bridge with something that supports 802.11N for my Xbox 360. I'd like it to support WPA / WPA2 and was aiming between $40-$60 if possible. I want something more general than the XBOX 360 Wi-Fi adapter so I'm not limited to just the console should I need to use it for something else. Any help is welcome.
I tried adding my mac address to skyhook and i dont get it still. Their customer scre tells me that there is something wrong with my idevice and they have already added my mac address. I hsve netgear wgr614 wireless router. Please help me guys.
I'm looking to buy my mom a Wireless-N router to complement a Roku box or Apple TV. Any recommendations? My bias is to get Linksys stuff since my parents are at least a little familiar with the interface & I've had good luck with. Would prefer if it had a USB print server, but that's not essential. Thanks!
Anyone else having issues with it negoating 100mbs ethernet connection. I have had to hardcode my PC's ethernet port to 10/hald for it to reliably stay connected. Wirless is not a problem.
We had power failure yesterday for about 2 hours. Since then, I am not able to connect to the internet using wireless on my router from any of my laptops. I have a couple of Thinkpads with Vista Business and XP Professional installed on them. All my wired connections are working fine. I have tried several things from resettting the modem and router to upgrading the firmware on the router. But I have not been able to get the wireless working again. The wireless network is available and my laptops...

I had to send my unit back in for warranty replacement. For some reason it would lose power randomly and the only way to get it to come back on was to physically press the power cable to the side. I suspect a bad solder joint in the power connector inside. After only 7 months of use I am a little disappointed that this happened to it since it is always sitting on a desk and has never been moved around at all to cause this problem
