nest works as advertised and stylishly so.
two caveats (but i still give it a 10). first, the great vareiety of heating/cooling system designs and set ups make this a tricky set up. wiring is not standard. second, even heating/ac pros don't always get it right.
in my case, it was a "common wire" that the old thermostat didn't need but nest did. it was a simple fix, finally done with a little guidance from nest and common sense after an hvac pro totally missed the mark.
nest customer support is great, btw. tireless.
