Detailed review
Released in 2006, it's not new and it's not cool. But Motorola's F3, also called the Motofone, has its charms,
First, it's extremely thin and light. Second, it has an e-ink display that looks surprisingly slick, especially in full sun. Finally, it has excellent battery life, and a simple user interface designed to be easily understood by anyone picking it up for the first time.
But what could be the perfect minimal phone has some annoying shortcomings. The display, for example, is set up like an old calculator: it can't show all the digits of a phone number on one line, and it can't represent certain characters well. It doesn't show the calendar, either: you have to go to the "change date" function just to see the date!
At $30 shipped from Amazon, however, and compatibility with T-Mobile's cheapest-of-class pay as you go service, it's great for penny pichers who can't stand another bricklike Nokia.
