Install Google Now on your ICS phone
details

If you're dying to get your hands on Google Now, you might not have to wait any longer. The peeps over at XDA developers figured out how to get this up and running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Only caveat is that this will only work on AOSP roms.
Here it is working on my Droid X running Cyanogenmod 9:

It's running a tad bit sluggish on my phone and the voice search doesn't work, but I get the card notifications for traffic,... Read more →

Android Market Not Showing All My Installed Apps [Fix]
details
A few weeks ago, I noticed in the Market, My Apps wasn't showing all the apps I had installed, it only showed about 10 apps. I figured it was a bug, but that my apps were being updated anyway. However, it turns out only the apps in the list were being monitored and I was missing out on a lot of app updates.
When I brought it up with several other android users, they noticed the same issue too. Apparently it's fairly common bug, so I wanted to some instructions incase you're having the same... Read more →

Sometimes Droid X Wakes Without 3G and Won't Connect to 3G Till I Restart
details
Sometimes I'll take my Droid X out of my pocket to notice it doesn't have 3G connected. I tried turning air plane mode on and then off in hopes it would force the 3G to reconnect, but that doesn't work. It only started happening after I upgraded to Gingerbread. I think it's also might be related to that I have the battery mode set to "Maximum Batter Saver" which I think turns off the 3G after a certain amount of inactivity to save battery - just that it isn't able to reconnect after that...

It seems the stock 16 GB micro SD card in my Droid X died. The phone can't read it. I can't format it on my phone, my MacBook, or my Windows PC.
details
These computers can't read it either. I was just wondering if this was common, and if you think there is something wrong with the phone itself or a way to test it. I don't want to get a replacement and have that die too. Also, any tips for salvaging the data on the card or at least getting it to format?

Want to waste $7 dollars? Buy an HDMI cable for your Droid X.
details
I just picked up an HDMI cable (along with a car mount and dock) for my Droid X and it's sad how limited the HDMI out is on the phone. You're confined to only viewing content within the Gallery app which includes photos and videos. Doesn't sound too bad, but the Gallery app acts super buggy when you have the phone connected to your TV. It's slower, freezes randomly, and it's not very intuitive navigating your content. To top it off, your photos aren't even full screen! Images are plastered right... Read more →

Has anyone had problems with loose headphone jacks on their Droid X?
details
Don't use my phone for listening too much, but I noticed when I do, if there's pressure put on the headphone plug a little bit, it cuts off the sound. I'm guessing the contacts on the inside are getting separated when that happens. In my situation it doesn't take that much pressure to make this happen. I have a set of over-the-ear headphones and the weight of the cord was causing the sound to cut out.

What are the best root-only apps for Android?
details
I just rooted my Droid X and I'm looking for some cool apps to install to take advantage of this super user power. So far I've installed: - Wireless tether: Wifi tether to your phone. Pretty simple to use and you can even put encryption on. - screenshot: Take screenshots on your phone. It's insane how this isn't a native feature of Android.

Looks like Motorola is addressing some of the issues that you may have experienced with your Droid X with 2.
details
2: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/38876 Here's the ones they listed: - Stuck on Moto logo after reboot - Random rebooting - WiFi connection and stability - Battery Manager “force close” errors - Media won’t play - Music files cutting off the final four seconds or so I definitely got the random rebooting and media not playing. Good to know that they're aware of it and are currently working on fixes.

My LG Chocolate is dying, and I'm jonesing for a Droid upgrade.
details
I'm looking at the HTC Incredible, but have the option to get the Motorola DroidX or Droid2 or the new Samsung Fascinate (via Verizon). Any recommendations? I really, really, really wish I could afford a Google G1, but that isn't in the cards, and wouldn't work on Verizon anyway.

So I just got the Droid X yesterday and I've been playing around with it a lot since then and it's a really solid phone.
details
Here are some initial impressions: Pros - Coming from the MyTouch 3g, this thing is blazing fast. - The display is nice. Sharp and bright. Good viewing angles - The phone as a whole feels really sturdy, high quality. It has a rubbery-coating, so I don't feel like it'll slip out of my hands. - The camera doesn't match a point and shoot, but it's still pretty good. Cons (all minor things) - Has preinstalled software that I don't want and I can't uninstall - Apps run... Read more →

Droid X CrapWare
details
It is extremely frustrating that they has preloaded things like the BlockBuster app, Amazon MP3 app and City ID (which displays the city of a incoming call and bugs you to subscribe for $1.99 a month WTF?). What is even worse about these applications is they run by themselves in the background even if you kill the app it still runs itself. CrapWare has been extremely frustrating on PC's but they are fairly easy to uninstall. Not true with unless you can get root access you can not remove... Read more →
