Had mine for about 14 months now. Certainly tempted by the Thunderbolt and other 4G/LTE phones, but willing to hold out until early next year.
I did root my phone for the WiFi hotspot, and briefly ran CyanogenMod 7 RC2, but am back to stock 2.2. Overall, very happy with the device, though I rarely use the physical keyboard and dislike it when I do. I've handled the Droid 2 physical keyboard and like it much better. Still, it's my second smartphone (after the Palm Centro) and I'm a fan. It does almost everything my iPod Touch does, and if it had a better battery life I'd probably leave the Touch at home more often....

Have had my Moto Droid for 51 weeks. Started having phantom screen issues with it yesterday. This is the only problem I have ever had.
Not bad that when it decides to have an issue it happens 1 week under the warranty date. Funny thing is they had to search their inventory for a long time to find ANY OG Droids. Was hoping for an upgrade to the Droid 2. But oh well... new one is coming tomorrow.

We have a couple of cases for the original Motorola Droid left over from our last event, first person to reply in the comments here gets it!
All I ask is that you have a US mailing address so I can keep the shipping cost down.

I have a Pre coming in the mail from eBay tomorrow, and I want to know the best apps. I'm switching from my DROID until June.
Is Tweed the best Twitter app with the best app with the best (and most fitting) interface? Best Google Reader app? Facebook Chat? I'm also a freak about icons, so that helps me. Just tell me your favorite apps! Thanks!

Im still using this motorola Droid... I do everything with this phone, from youtube, movies(mp4), mp3 player etc.
I compaired this with the new droid X (co-worker) phone... and he had nothing but problems with his phone. Sticking with this phone until a newer verison or better phone other then the droid X.

Ever since they upgraded my Motorola Droid (v1) to Froyo I've been seeing really annoying delays.
Basically the main screen keeps losing all my icons for a good 20 seconds. It seems like the 'Home' process is overloaded or is hanging on something. Sliding from panel to panel is glitchy too. If the iphone were on Verizon, I'd switch asap. (And I'm a motorola stockholder :)

Doesn't it just piss you off when people call all Android devices "droids"?
It's the equivalent of saying "iTouch" in place of iPod Touch. But do you think it's okay to call Android sets, "Androids" (ie Which Android is that?) or is it just as bad?

Even months after its release, I would still like to buy the GSM version (Milestone) just to play around with.
It must be a really nice phone seeing it was so popular back then...

My LG Chocolate is dying, and I'm jonesing for a Droid upgrade.
I'm looking at the HTC Incredible, but have the option to get the Motorola DroidX or Droid2 or the new Samsung Fascinate (via Verizon). Any recommendations? I really, really, really wish I could afford a Google G1, but that isn't in the cards, and wouldn't work on Verizon anyway.

Anyone else notice that replacement DROIDs seem to run faster/better than their predecessors?
I recently got a "like-new" warranty replacement for my DROID after the keyboard on the 1st unit started losing keys. The replacement unit shipped with FRG22D, while the old unit (which I got on the DROID's debut day) had been progressively upgraded to the same build from the 2.0 version it had when I first got it. I spent yesterday evening setting the replacement up with almost the same app stack as the previous one, and have been pleasantly surprised to find it a lot more...

Anyone figured out how to get ongoing notifications on texts or VM message.
If I am not right by my phone I often find quite a bit later that I have one or the other.

I've recently got the European version of this phone, the Milestone. I'm stuck with 2.
1 at the moment, what can I do to maximise my experience with this phone?

2 questions...
Can any of the Andriod (at ver 2.x) record phone conversations (without that idiotic 'turn on speaker phone and hope for the best work around)? Has anyone read/heard any review reference this shortcoming? thx

Here is my new dream phone, Windows Phone Seven, Verizon LTE, Portrait Candybar/Slider, big screen, attractive (Dieter Rams...), and this holiday season.
If I can have this, boy would I leave Android! And a Mac sync client!

I don't know what to do about this phone! I got my original DROID on day one, and now I feel as if it is becoming obsolete.
I think that the DROID X seems like a great phone, but is it worth using up an available upgrade and $200? Motorola said that they are working on two video chatting DROID branded phones and a 2ghz one! So, shall I wait until the end of the year for these, or go for the DROID X?

How can anyone keep up with the pace that smartphones are moving these days?
I got my Droid back in Dec of last year, and not 6 months later it's already looking ancient and sluggish next to phones like the Droid X and the iPhone 4. I can only imagine how dated it will look after 12 months, which I've decided is the shortest upgrade period I can reasonably do.
