Can One Disable Verizon's Droid Bionic OTA?
details
I rooted my phone and I attempted to install the OTA ( I performed the necessary steps to keep my phone rooted), but the update didn't install correctly. However, I'm constantly reminded to install or download the update and it's getting annoying. Does anyone know if you can disable this notification using SQL Lite Editor or by any other means?

P.S. I'd rather not deal with unrooting and rerooting my phone and am trying to avoid it by any means possible.

Should we now avoid buying Android phones with hardware buttons?
details
Android Ice Cream Sandwich switched to a buttonless standard with the Galaxy Nexus. Sure, Android scales well for many different devices and ICS has backwards compatibility for phones with hardware buttons, but that's just a patch for the baggage.
Android evolved with virtual buttons in the System Bar (for Honeycomb, ICS, and beyond) for good reasons like:
  • hardware button inconsistency between devices
  • not having to guess whether the physical "Menu" button is useful in a context or not
  • quick access...

I need a Verizon smartphone in my hands and operational by next Tuesday. What do I get?
details
So, it's complicated (my tirade is here: http://www.langeontech.com/2011/10/18/an-open-lett... but I'm getting booted off Cincinnati Bell next Tuesday and my family is switching to Verizon. So I need a phone before then, which rules out the Droid Razr and Galaxy Nexus (which I'm just assuming is coming to Verizon) as they won't be out til next month. Also, at least online, orders for all variants of the iPhone 4S are backed up until next month.
So what do I do? Has anyone had... Read more →

Use a DROID Phone as a WiFi only iPod Touch-ish?
details
So I have a friend that is selling her Droid phone (I believe it is a Droid Bionic or Droid 3. Fairly new ~6 months old and she said the MSRP was $600), and I may end up buying it from her. My question is, is it possible to use it pretty much as an iPod Touch for just WiFi only purposes? Will there be any complications? Will it constantly complain about not having a SIM card installed? (from VZW)

Micro HDMI port --> Video out?
details
I already own this device and am enjoying it immensely (my first Android!), but I'm still learning to take advantage of all the features. Does anyone know if the micro HDMI port can be used for outputting video from the phone onto my HD TV?
I'm primarily thinking about Netflix. If possible, I would love to be able to replace my primary Netflix device (Apple TV) with the BIONIC. It seems like a feature that should obviously be enabled on the device, but I want to make sure before purchasing the...

What protective case will fit my Droid Bionic with the extended battery?
details
I bought the Droid Bionic and I love it. Got the extended battery because it was on sale, but now I'm having a hard time finding a case that fits the phone with the extended battery.

If you know of one could you provide a link in the comments.

Thanks in advance Gdgters!

Android Market - My Apps list got nuked
details
Has anyone else seen this? I've had my Bionic for less than a week, and the app that's crashed the most has been the Android Market. (This didn't happen nearly as often on my original Droid). Yesterday, I noticed that nearly all of the apps I've previously downloaded through the market are no longer showing (so no way to know if they're up to date). If I browse to an app already on the device it shows as "installed," and all of the apps are working fine. I just can't seem to get the full apps...

Droid Bionic Picture
details
Dear Gdgt,

I know the Droid Bionic was announced about 8 months ago and it had a somewhat different design, but the gdgt geek in me is troubled that the picture hasn't been updated to reflect last weeks release model. Please, pretty please, update the image. Thanks in advance.

lets get this page updated
details
Pics and specs on here are for the old bionic hardware that was never released. When are we going to be able to access and edit specs again here on gdgt? Come on Ryan and Pete... the wiki style product database was what made gdgt unique and useful. Now its basically just another elaborate discussion board site with stale data.

Which one do you think is going to be the best? I think the Revolution could be good, because it might have Dual-core (but does any user need that?).
details
The Samsung is ugly and cheap looking, and the Bionic's skinjob is terrible. That leaves me with the Thunderbolt. It is BY FAR the most attractive phone I've ever seen. And Sense looks great, but it's basically year old hardware? What do you guys think?
