I have AT&T with a grandfathered unlimited data plan but prefer Verizon's performance. I am using an iphone 3gs. Itunes frakked my music collection and I hate it. I need Exchange support, though we do have a BES in house. Security is the most important. Had a BB curve a couple of years ago it was SOOOooo Slow and I had to pull the battery so often, I installed the battery puller app.

So ICS and the Galaxy Nexus have me contemplating going back to Android for the first time since I sold my OG Droid back in January when the Verizon iPhone came out. Looking for a cheapish android phone for a 5 year old who loves Angry Birds, Talking Tom, Doodle etc. Seems like I should be able to get something for less than $50 that I can install those games on (via my account) and let him have fun? Why do phones have microUSB ports on the side?

Lately, I've noticed that a lot of Android phones have microUSB ports on the side rather than on the bottom. I find this to be a major hindrance when I need to use the phone while it's charging. Aside from the new Motorola devices that dock, is there a particular reason for devices to have this port on the side? Perhaps it's a physical design limitation on certain phones (both the DROID and T-Mobile G2 have it on the side and they are sliders)?

I've been using a Motorola Droid for the past 2 years. It's starting to act wonky, and I have an upgrade. I've been wanting the Samsung Galaxy S II/ Samsung Function all month but there's no US release (press release is expected August 29th). I loved the RAZR and enjoyed the Droid most of the time I've owned it. Should I get the Samsung or wait even longer for a Google-Moto device?

I know this is more of a Verizon question and that it all depends on when the phone was purchased, but I'm rather busy and can't find time to run to the store. My girlfriend bought her droid not long after its launch and suspects that she'll have to wait til about November (2yrs) to be eligible for an upgrade. I got Froyo a little over a week ago. On Friday my phone did an update and ever since then the gmail app has been crashing like crazy.

When gmail goes to sync it will crash giving me the option to "Force Close" or "Report". Anyone else experience this? I just did a factory reset a few weeks ago at Verizon's request due to my constant issues with reception/sound quality so I'm really hoping to NOT have to do that to fix this issue. o.O
