My favorite part about Google Voice is using it for voicemail. Unfortunately, in the initial Google Voice setup on my Galaxy Nexus, it tells you that my carrier doesn't support that action or something. Apparently Verizon just wants to squeeze money out of their customers because they have their own visual voicemail but its $36/year (see also: phone and data plan costs).
Is there a workaround I can use in order to use Google Voice for voicemail on Verizon?
I cracked the screen on my phone (the Droid) and still had insurance on it so I decided to put that money to use in getting a replacement... which ends up will be the Droid 2. I'm not sure if I should be semi-excited or semi-sad. The Droid has served me well (even with all of it's short comings) and I am sort of imagining that the Droid 2 is pretty similar... so if it doesn't have some of the issues the Droid does... it could be a noticeable improvement. Of course, this almost doesn't matter...

So, I have a Droid 2 and have had one since December of last year. Between then and now I've had to have it replaced once (powerbutton stuck/rejected all chargers), and have had to do 4 factory resets because the phone was slowing down and that's what Verizon always recommended for me to do. I have no task killers installed. I have no anti-virus installed. No rooted phone. Just a normal Droid 2. Is what I'm experiencing normal? Should I not be reseting the phone as it becomes less responsive?...
As many of you probably know, Verizon ships their android phones with a bunch of bloatware apps (e.g. Blockbuster app), and I'd like to strip them off of my girlfriend's phone. Is there a simple way to do this that doesn't involve rooting the device? I've tried the obvious routes (application settings, trying to remove the .apk files from the device while plugged in, etc).
I have Verizon, and I really like the Droid 2 Global. It has the newer phone features I want, as well as a hardware keyboard I like. My problem is it seems like the Driod 2 has been out for awhile, and I am wondering if I am going to regret upgrading now. I have seen a ton of new devices being talked about, and LTE, and iPhone 5, and I don't want to get into something that I am bound to for 2 years and a month from now something really sweet come out. Anyone have any suggestions?
Despite enjoying Star Wars and my affinity for R2-D2, I have to say this special edition phone looks downright ugly. It's a cute gimmick, to be sure, but man! It's almost as though Lucas thought he'd direct the design of the phone himself. Yuck. More info: http://www.droiddoes.com/r2d2/ Engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/27/verizon-droid-2...
