- Sound quality I always get good sound out of these no matter what type of music I play.
- Design and form factor I like that they fold. The rubber on top could be better glued in, though.
- Comfort I can wear them for hours and not feel pinched.
- Noise isolation I wear them on the NYC subway. Usually only the loudest of crazies gets through.
- Durability The rubber piece on top is an issue. It keeps falling off. But then, I have been using them near-constantly for almost a year.
Detailed review
You have to hand it to Monster and the Beats Audio team. They really do excel at cramming amazing sound into a small form factor. The Beats Solo HDs aren’t tiny like earbuds, but they’re easy to drop into a big coat pocket since they fold up.
In the time I’ve been testing these I’ve listened to a wide range of music from hard rock to hip-hop to Broadway musicals (don’t judge!) to easy listening. Unlike the DiddyBeats and Lady Gaga Heartbeats, the Beats Solo sound great across the musical spectrum. Plus, when I’m rocking podcasts, I don’t have to turn the volume up all the way to block noise.
