Canceling a zune pass subscription is an ungodly nightmare.
details
(This is about the zune pass service, which is not listed in gdgt's database.)
A few days ago my brother signed up for a free 2-week trial for the zune pass service. My mom called me in the room asking me to help her cancel it before they billed her. xbox.com instructs you to go to billing.microsoft.com, sign in, click on the service, and click "CANCEL MY SERVICE." we go to said website, and the link says "HOW TO cancel my service." We click the link, and it directs us to the zune site.
Why did... Read more →

RIP Zune?
details
Paul Thurrott, writer of all things Microsoft, posted a brief blurb that Zune is no more according to his sources: "And what about Zune? Although both companies talked up virtually all Windows Phone-based services, Zune was conspicuously missing—both in discussions from both Elop and Ballmer and on a global reach marketing slide that was created by both companies. My sources tell me that the Zune brand is on the way out and that all Zune products and services will be moved into other... Read more →

What's next for Zune?
details
* * * This piece appeared originally in the gdgt newsletter. Sign up at gdgt.com/newsletter/ if you're not already receiving it! * * * I'm guessing not many people have had this on their mind lately, but since the launch of Windows Phone 7 I've been wondering what will happen to Zune, Microsoft's oft-maligned line of portable media players (make your jokes now so we can get them out of the way, ok?). It's easy to dismiss Zune as a punchline, but whatever Microsoft does... Read more →

Has anyone got a friend to jump on the Zune bandwagon (there's plenty of room)?
details
I haven't yet, but I was talking to my boss the other day, he saw my Zune HD, and we starting talking about it. Turns out he has the 8gb Zune and his kid has the brown brick Zune. After showing him my Zune HD, I pretty much sold him on upgrading his kid's Zune 30 to the HD. Felt nice to find another Zune fan out there IRL, but I hope to one day find someone I can convert over.

Podcast feed tip that I wanted to pass along:
details
I probably subscribe to over 20 podcasts in the Zune software. I'd say the Zune software handles podcast pretty well, but one thing that sucks is that if you reinstall the Zune software, say after a reformat of Windows (I do this periodically), you have to put all of them back in one by one. Until Microsoft stores your subscriptions "in the cloud", I hope, I have a really simple method to make this less annoying next time you need to reload podcast feeds into Zune, or any... Read more →

I'll add 4GB iPod Nano to this soon, but for now its Compared to the Zune 30, 1st gen iPod touch 32GB, the G1, and the N900. http://www.flickr.com/photos/34456349@N00/sets/721...

My Zune 8g dies unexpectedly
details
I have wireless turned off. It doesn't give any warning, it just gives up. Most of the time when this happens, I go to turn it on and it's dead. I usually shut the player off and then lock it. When I pop it in the charger, it shows that the battery is depleted, but before I turned it off, it was 80-90% charged. This is really annoying, especially when it happens at the gym or out running. I don't want to carry around a backup player. My mix of use is 90% audio podcasts, 10% video....

Would This Be A Reasonable iPod Shuffle Replacement?
details
I love the form factor of my iPod shuffle (small, durable, clip-on) for walking and such -- I often don't have pockets available. However, I'm getting sick of iTunes and loving the Zune software. I thought I might run by some qualifications to some Zune users -- would the small Zunes... - Fit in a pocket with keys? - have a solid enough screen to take any abuse from said keys in pocket? - be light enough to have clipped to a shirt? - have a non-case clip attachment? I wish MS would make... Read more →

Some questions about the Zune Pass
details
I am normally an apple iPod guy but it is costing me way to much to keep it filled. So I was thinking of picking up a Zune and getting the Zune pass but before I do, I have a few questions first. 1. To download new music do I need to do it through a computer or can I do it through the Zune on wifi? 2. What quality music can I download? Can I get lossless? 3. The 10 songs I get to keep are they DRM free? 4. If I don't pick 10 songs this month, do I get 20 songs next month? They accumulate? 5....

What wonders will the Zune 4.0 bring?
details
What do you think some of the features are going to be on the 4.0 OS? Personally I would like easier purchasing of Zune Pass songs. I don't want to have to go to the Marketplace and find the song that is already in my collection to remove the DRM. I know there is probably a lot of room for improvement so I hope that somewhere a Zune software developer is going to read this and get some ideas. Of course Mac support would be nice too. Although I doubt that will ever happen. Update: I really... Read more →

Has anyone had ANY problems?
details
I have a Zune 8 and I havn't had any problems with it. It's never not worked, still have plenty of left over memory, the screen is alittle small but the overall device is small, wich is good. The battery life is not incredibly long but it works. I've never had any problem with mine, I was wondering if anyone else has?
