About

The Xbox 360 is Microsoft's second gaming console to come out on the consumer market. It was released a full year ahead of its competition which allowed it to obtain a wide consumer base prior to the release of both the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3. Microsoft offered an external HD-DVD drive for movies, which was discontinued when HD DVD lost out to Blu-Ray. The 360 features award-winning titles such as Halo 3, Gears of War and Fable II. It is also the console of choice for FPS gamers with it's highly-acclaimed and well-liked controller form factor.

The Xbox 360 is both cheaper and more expensive than the Wii depending on the model. All models are cheaper than the PS3. However, it does not feature integrated WiFi (requiring a separate purchase of nearly $100). The Xbox 360 is rumored to have a price cut later this year (possibly bringing the Elite version down to the current Pro model's price)

It is also the home of Xbox Live, including Xbox Live Arcade, Netflix, Last.fm, a video marketplace and more. A gold subscription is $49.99 a year but can be bought cheaper via online cards. A gold account is required to play online multiplayer games and watch Netflix. Silver accounts can still download demos and buy games.
