How to restore from a hidden recovery partition
Just thought I'd document this, since I don't see any real information on the internet about how to go about doing this.
I'm planning on selling one of my computers, but I needed to restore it to factory settings. Unfortunately, I've done many things with my computer, installed various linux distros, running a clean install of Windows XP and Windows 7, but one of the things I never did was create recovery DVDs in case I have any issues or wanted to restore it.
Luckily for me, I kept the recovery... Read more →

This video showing the upgrade path from Windows 1.0 to Windows 7 is pretty crazy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPnehDhGa14 tl;dr on it is that everything installed in 1.0 carries through to 7 with the exception of color schemes.

VIsta was the worst operating system ever.
Had constant issues with installing or updating drivers, ran incredibly inefficiently, taskbar looked ugly and generally it would never run games well enough. Been running Windows 7 Ultimate ever since and will never go back to anything else.:-)

Incomprehensible for folks trying to use Windows as an appliance. XP was much simpler. 7 is a vast improvement.

Upgrading a custom built PC! Have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 runnin' at 3.
00 GHz, 4 GB DDR2 RAM (64bit Vista), 2x Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS (SLI), Hi-def 32' Samsung LCD 1080p (1920 x 1080 native res). Looking to upgrade a little. Specifically the GPU needs renewing. Seein' if I can't get this bad boy to run latest games at 30+ FPS. Thanks!

I've been using Windows 7 since the beta (January 2009) and I just got my first BSOD today.
I'm actually sort of impressed that it didn't happen sooner. Another surprising thing, I never got a BSOD using Vista.

idk if its my dsl modem, this thing, or the ISP but ever since i got this, my internet has had soooo many problems.
of course it could just be because vista sucks. haha

Vista on netbooks?
The two netbooks I have played with that run Vista (Acer AS1410 and Acer 751h) run it very well. Are there any other netbooks that run vista really well or at least decently? I mainly want one with vista so i get the windows 7 in October. Sub $400 would be ideal too. P.S. I do realize if the pc runs vista it isn't a netbook by MS's definition. But if it is sub $400, has no optical drive, and is really small i think its a netbook.
