Im interested to know if anyone has been able to update using the windows phone 7 connector app for OSX.
because so far i still cant update my htc trophy, is this due to it just not yet being available for my specific device?
I was listening to Paul Thurrott's rant about Windows Phone 7 last week (I might have been an episode behind) and it's struck me that he has, as…
usual, an excellent point. NoDo is a non-update. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is a complete non-event as far as updates go. Cut & Paste? Wheee. Faster App launching? Well since nothing on WP7 has ever made me tap my fingers in the manner of some iPhone or Android apps, I can't say I've felt it as something that needed fixing. On the flipside, things I thought needed to be fixed including UX issues and handset-specific problems haven't been fixed. As I said, non-event. Now,...

When I synced this phone with my google account it managed to garble up all my contacts.
Now each of my contacts has multiple incorrect email addresses or phone numbers attached to it. Anyone have similar problems or know how to fix?
Any suggestions for a jacked Bluetooth remote that works properly? The Nokia BH-214 I use and like doesn't work properly.
The pause works, volume and transport controls work fine during playback - but after pausing it doesn't resume play - I have to press play on the Nokia so that the headset is in communication with the phone, then go to the phone and press play. If I just press play on the phone without 'waking up' the Nokia, it just starts playing on the speaker. Which, if you're listening to 'Jay And Silent Bob Get Old' on a very, very quiet train heading into the heart of the...
Podcasts in Zune...
I've copied over all my iTunes Podcasts, imported them and subscribed - and it appears to be doubling up some of the podcasts which is OK, but I have some doubled-up podcasts, one of which shows 'in collection' and one which shows 'automatic'. What does the 'automatic' mean?
Did Nokia just become Microsoft's hardware division?
This whole thing is starting to sound like more than a mere partnership. I thought it was peculiar that Microsoft was giving Nokia near free-reign to customize WP7. Now another Microsoft person is stepping in to take over a leadership role. Maybe this is Microsoft's way to get their own hardware division without having to start from scratch? I'll be keeping an eye on this. http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/12/nokia-usa-presi...
I hope Nokia leans on Skype for #WP7 support!
It's an unimportant in the whole, but important for me, aspect of this 'merger'. The only thing I miss on the N900 is the Skype integration. I'd love for there to be a proper Skype client on WP7.

I'm still digesting today's news -- and believe me, this is really, really big news -- but when I saw the announcement this morning it made me think…
of how way back in 2003/2004 I'd be in meetings with people from the Windows Mobile team at Microsoft where they'd promise that sooner or later Nokia would offer phones with their software on it. It was easy pretty easy to be skeptical then, but turns out they were right! I don't know whether this partnership will work, but having Nokia as an OEM will presumably give Windows Phone 7 the kind of scale that is attractive to developers, and as we all know a vibrant app library is a...

Most Metro-illustrating apps?
I'm interested in finding some apps which showcase the possibilities of the Metro UI. Any suggestions?

Is Microsoft missing out on a huge opportunity for Xbox Live gaming on WP7...?
As a loyal Verizon wireless customer I have for the longest time been waiting. For being such a major provider it has been amazing to see just how long it has taken them to actually get some of the major devices on their network. First was the long wait for the iPhone. I have wanted one since they came out but was not able to and willing to switch networks to acquire one. While waiting for the mythical Verizon iPhone to rear its head Microsoft launched Windows Phone 7. Admittedly I am a bit of a...

I'm moderating a panel on the future of user interfaces at CES 2011 this week. We've assembled an extremely exciting panel that includes Dr.
Richard Marks (Sony; creator of PlayStation Eye and Move), Albert Shum (Microsoft; principal designer of Windows Phone 7), Dr. Andrew Hsu (Synaptics; Technology Strategist), Xavier Lauwaert (HP; Worldwide Marketing Manager), and Paolo Pastorino (Loquendo). Let me know if you have any questions you'd like to see asked to this remarkably distinguished panel of experts -- they represent companies leading the field in spatial, gestural, touch, and voice interfaces for consumers. Also, if...

"Major" Windows Phone 7 update at the beginning of the year:
Sounds like it's going to be a pretty exciting update to the OS. Based on my brief use of it during gdgt live in San Francisco, it was a pretty fluid experience and seems to be a solid operating system. A few of the games were sluggish, but I imagine that will improve with time. Anyway, based on an article on WP Central: "So far, the update is suppose to have the following features: * Bing turn-by-turn directions, improvements * Custom ringer support * Copy/Paste * Multi-tasking (of...

What's next for Zune?
* * * This piece appeared originally in the gdgt newsletter. Sign up at gdgt.com/newsletter/ if you're not already receiving it! * * * I'm guessing not many people have had this on their mind lately, but since the launch of Windows Phone 7 I've been wondering what will happen to Zune, Microsoft's oft-maligned line of portable media players (make your jokes now so we can get them out of the way, ok?). It's easy to dismiss Zune as a punchline, but whatever Microsoft does...

gdgt live in SF impressions: What were your favorite gadgets?
A huge thanks to everyone who came out to gdgt live in San Francisco this past Friday. Nearly 1,000 people came to the SFDC Galleria to check out goods from 49 different companies, making this our biggest and most successful gdgt live event yet! It was a fantastic and welcome homecoming. So, if you went and got your hands on some cool gear, what did you think? My impressions: Windows Phone 7 absolutely blew me away. The interface looked really slick and it seems like it will be a dream to use....

Anyone got a question about the LG? I've had it since last week so should be able to answer some questions.

This hardware is sub-par. Feels cheap and fragile. I am constantly pressing one of it's 50 side buttons by accident.
Ok there isn't 50 buttons but it seems like there is always one under me finger when I hold it. Really liking WinPhone7 though.

Starting my second day with WinPhone 7 and I am really enjoying it. It's not as good as iOS but for a 1.0 release it's pretty polished.
I already like it better then Android and that's at 2.2
