Would the MicroSD card be usable with the upgrade?
details
Certain Windows Phones have the ability to have a microSD card slot built in to it or even have it hidden inside its chassis. I would like to know if this card would be even transferable to the new Windows Phone 8 devices or are these microSD cards pretty much forever stuck with those devices they were installed into?

I know that there are ways to resurrect those cards by reformatting them with a Nokia N8 device but I'd like to know if Microsoft is doing anything about this phenomena.

Should I Stay (With Windows Phone) or should I Go (Back to Android)?
details
I'm a very simple person, Give me lots of memory(preferably expandable) and a huge screen. Simple right?
I have a Lumia 900, and I love what it does, and I love it for what it isn't, an iPhone or an Android phone. The 920 seems to be the Best Windows available from launch day, but with only a 4.5-inch HD display, and 32GB sealed with no expansion. This doesn't seem that much different from my 900; except the obvious WP8, camera, etc...
Sounds like Android is becoming more, and more what I want in... Read more →

Am I insane to still want a HP Pre 3 over a Lumia 900?
details
Having spent quite a bit of time with my Samgsung Focus (WP7), I'm pretty happy with the OS, but the more I use this mobile OS the more I miss webOS. WP7 has numerous features that appear webOS inspired: fast app switching, toasting notifications, even live tiles provide up-to-date information like Palm's cards. So I ask you, gdgt community, is lusting after the HP Pre 3 a sign of mental illness and should I stick with an active platform like WP7?

Does anyone know of a backlit Bluetooth keyboard specifically designed for use with Windows machines?
details
I've been looking for one for a while now and haven't been able to find any that are designed for use with Windows. I've come across various options designed for the iPad, Android tablets and game consoles, some of which work with a PC, but require the user to implement some sort of a workaround for basic Windows keys like, well, the Windows key. I've also explored the option of other wireless technologies (especially Logitech's unifying receiver), but finally settled on Bluetooth because of its... Read more →

Sleep timer for Windows Phone?
details
I have left iOS for Windows Phone, but I am experiencing one issue. I have used my iPhone as an alarm clock, and listened to podcasts in Instacast. Before I fall asleep I listen to podcasts, and set a timer to have it stop in fifteen, twenty minutes etc. So far in Windows Phone, I cannot replicate this feature. I tried an app called Sleep Timer, but it only could access my music, not the Podcasts! app. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Why is it so hard to find a decent slider?
details
I can't type on touchscreens to save my life. I'm willing to pay more for a slider with decent hardware, but they all seem to have the guts of 5 year old phones.
I have a Motorola Flipside with 2.2 and I'm ready to throw it out the window. I can't even update any apps any more because it gives me constant out of space errors with its tiny 256 MB RAM x 512 MB, fixed focus, general slowness, and occasional unresponsiveness.
I looked at the specs for the LG Optimus Slider, but it's specs don't seem... Read more →

Windows Phone users, are these apps really that bad?
details
I was just browsing the Windows Phone App marketplace, and I found some pretty terrible reviews. The official Facebook and Twitter apps all have 2.5-3/5 stars. Windows Phone users here on gdgt, are they really that bad? Some users are reporting scroll issues, login issues, etc. etc.

So, now that we know a bit more about Windows Phone 8, will it be coming to current devices?
details
In case you missed it, a leaked Microsoft video today told us a little bit more about the next major update to Windows Phone, namely including support for multi core processors, more screen resolutions, microSD cards, NFC, seamless integration with Windows 8 on the PC (will share a lot of code), an integrated Skype app (finally!), new data management features, and finally BitLocker encryption support. Sounds pretty great if you ask me.
What I want to know, though, is will they be upgrading the... Read more →

Spotify or Zune Pass?
details
I'm in possession of a Windows Phone Mango Device, an Xbox 360, and a BlackBerry Playbook (It was a gift, don't judge me). What I want to know is if I am better off using a service like Spotify which has no proprietary requirements or should I go totally Microsoft and get a Zune Pass? Either way I am looking for a Spotify-like service to phase out iTunes or Zune music purchasing.

Which 4g phone should I buy?
details
I have AT&T with a grandfathered unlimited data plan but prefer Verizon's performance. I am using an iphone 3gs. Itunes frakked my music collection and I hate it. I need Exchange support, though we do have a BES in house. Security is the most important. Had a BB curve a couple of years ago it was SOOOooo Slow and I had to pull the battery so often, I installed the battery puller app.
