I have a OS X machine that has mapped network connections to my Windows Home Server. When I logon to the desktop from a reboot, Finder will open all those network connections as a separate window (eg 8 network connections, 8 open windows). I want the network connections as shortcuts on my desktop, but not have the open windows.
I'm looking for an automated solution to backup files from my Windows Home Server to a remote storage service. I don't necessarily need to back the whole device up but I definitely want to get documents and pictures stored in three locations (PC, WHS & Remote). I know that few cloud storage solutions support Windows Home Server but I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with unsupported solutions. Something that can be managed through the home server console would be preferred but RDP is...
especially since i would like to access our photos, videos, music, and movies on both my wife's desktop and my laptop and will likely be replacing the media PC that was connected to my plasma until it died recently. What's the easiest (set up and use) product out there that will give me the biggest bang for my buck. Thanks.
What do you need to do to upgrade hardware on a WHS if you needed to? For instance the motherboard or your main hard drive the OS is on. Back it all up and reinstall? In the case of the HDD can you clone that drive to a new larger one and everything still work?
Windows Home Server is a home server operating system from Microsoft. Windows Home Server is intended to be a solution for homes with multiple connected PCs to offer file sharing, automated backups, and remote access. It is based on Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
