Where Vista felt like a sprawling mess, Windows 7 has patched up the holes and feels like a tight, unified mechanism. It's hardly full of surprises, but that's usually a good thing when it comes to operating systems.

Conclusion: We like it
Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. It's not perfect, but it's stable, reliable, and incorporates all of Vista's key UI enhancements (most of which can be disabled if you've got an older PC that can't handle them — of if you hate eye candy). If you've been waiting for a reason to ditch XP, your time has come.

The bottom line: Windows 7 is more than what Vista should have been, it's where Microsoft needed to go. How much damage Vista did and whether Windows 7 is enough for people to finally abandon Windows XP are questions that nobody has the answers to right now.
Read the full review →Microsoft took far too long to come up with a satisfactory replacement for Windows XP. But whether you choose to install Windows 7 on your current systems or get it on the next new PC you buy, you'll find that it's the unassuming, thoroughly practical upgrade you've been waiting for--flaws and all.

Read the full review →A proper XP replacement. I left for Macs as MS was frankly unacceptable but they are back with Win 7. Lots more could be hidden 'under the hood' but overall its good. I'll stick with Mac OS though - but have got Win 7 on as virtual machine.

Microsoft Windows 7 works as efficiently as the computer it's running on. If you have a fast computer( dual core 2.8 GHz or better) then the experience is...
Read the full review →Best version of Windows yet and I understand where Microsoft is going with it, but it could use some help in the areas of speed with the hardware it has available as well as some very old technology under the hood (registry). I commend Microsoft for finally bringing 64-bit to the Windows world in...

That said, basic functions are hampered by a very poor interface. The most infuriating part is...
