Using Windows 7 in Boot Camp on MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz, 4GB of RAM) -- things are SLOW.
Alright, in my desperation to finally play Civilization V, I went ahead and installed Windows 7 in a Boot Camp partition on my MacBook Pro. This means, that for all intents and purposes, my laptop becomes a Windows machine when I reboot the computer and enter Windows 7. So, my question is, with a computer that has a dual core 2.53GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT video card (maybe that's the problem?), why is my computer acting so damn slow? It takes a good 3 -...

Bluetooth on my Windows 7 laptop has stopped working. I don't know what happened, but when I scan, I can't discover anything.
I used to connect my phone to my PC, but now I want to connect my PS3's headset, but can't. Has anyone had problems with bluetooth drivers, or something like this? I've tried installing the drivers from the site, but I've had no luck.

For some reason my desktop, after I put it into hibernate, would randomly boot back up at random times.
I'm not too sure how long after I put it into hibernate, since it's normally when I'm on my way out or off to bed, but it happens fairly frequently. Do anyone know why or how this happens? I don't think it's Windows updates, since the last time I updated was yesterday. The last time it did this to me was today. I put my computer in hibernate yesterday night. I woke up and it was still off, but I come back home from work and it's definitely back on. It's a bit...

I was looking all over the place for codecs to view raw images for my GF1 on Windows 7 and hit a ceiling because the codec that Panasonic currently has out is…
not compatible with 64-bit OSs. Microsoft has a listing of codecs here: http://www.microsoft.com/prophoto/downloads/codecs... Since Panasonic didn't have a codec working for 64-bit systems, I had to do this third party style and didn't have Photoshop installed, which most likely would have the codecs necessary to view these. I'm probably going to purchase that sometime soon. I searched around a bit and found this codec pack: http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/ I read a few...

HP PC + Windows 7 + Xbox 360 Arcade: More Great Offers!
As promised last month, flagging a few great offers that many of you will likely want to check out, especially students. Microsoft has been working with retail and PC manufacturer partners to offer great deals on a variety of Windows 7 PCs. Sometimes it's hard to choose the best technology right for you when there is a myriad of choices AND still afford that little something extra (like an Xbox 360 Arcade!). Microsoft and its partners are trying to help make the decisions a little easier...

Microsoft needs to get there tablet play together. This isn't news for anyone, not even Microsoft.
They're making the same mistake they made with phones. The phone isn't a PC, nor is the tablet. W7 on a tablet isn't what consumers and even what most geeks want. It's clunky.

Seems to be nearly impossible to get this working on my HP Window 7 Laptop. Driver installation fails every time.
Anyone had a similar issue?
Recommend me a Windows 7 Tablet
So I'm pretty keen to expand onto mobile Windows tabletting after a few months with the Sony L11, and want to put the Sony Z11's (my current main everyday notebooks) to one side for a while and try working with tablets. The last one I seriously used was the Toshiba M200 which didn't really work out all that well, but I think Windows 7 definitely makes it worth a try again. What I would want out of a Windows 7 tablet: Mandatory: - 1.8Kgs or under for convertible - 1.4Kgs or under...

The LG UX10 tablet looks and sounds great!
But it suffers the same problem as previous tablet devices: it's running a desktop operating system.
Is there a way to live-sync one (or more) documents between ALL of these OS's like Dropbox?
I know that you can get Dropbox for iPhone, but it doesn't work in the same way as it does on Windows or OSX - i.e. you have to go into the app, then find the file, etc. What I want is pretty simple, but ultimately undoubtedly very hard to achieve - at least one document, text-only is fine, readily accessible with one click from the home page / desktop of any of the above devices, which is live synced across all the devices (well - the N900 isn't an absolute must, but it must support...

Virtualization software.
I hate to use it but I'm tired of rebooting my computer to get to the programs I need that are on the Mac partition or Windows partition. What software would you guys recommend that would let me get the most power out of my system? Parallels? VMWare Fusion? Something as simple as VirtualBox? Being able to have a VM set up for Ubuntu and Chrome OS would be a huge plus as well. For now, I will be running video card intensive tasks like all of Adobe CS4, AutoCAD, and 3D rendering with Podium...

So who out there has a HTPC set up?
I figured with all the discussions going on about GoogleTV it could be a fun time to find out what the Gdgt community is doing in the terms of HTPC. Hardware: Windows 7 32bit machine with 4GB of Ram, 1TB Drive and an ATI HD4350 video card doing video & audio out over HDMI. Software: XBMC with the Alaska Revisited skin I control it via my Harmony remote that is working together with Eventghost to properly map the buttons. I'm hoping the HDHomeRun CableCard tuner comes out soon because...

Where do you see the OS space in 10 years.
I did a similar post on what I thought about the iPad and desktop OS but I thought it would be fun to do a thread on just where do you see OSes in 10 years, mobile and desktop.

I've been using Windows 7 since the beta (January 2009) and I just got my first BSOD today.
I'm actually sort of impressed that it didn't happen sooner. Another surprising thing, I never got a BSOD using Vista.
